Quintessence Photonics Corporation awarded contract for optical sensing lasers
SYLMAR, Calif., 18 July 2006. Quintessence Photonics Corporation, a subsidiary of QPC Lasers Inc., has won a contract to develop and deliver high-precision direct diode optical sensing lasers based on its recently released high-power semiconductor lasers with Internal Gratings.

Department of Defense contracts Psion Teklogix and GlobeRanger for RFID application
Erlanger, Ky., 18 July 2006. Psion Teklogix, a global provider of solutions for mobile computing, wireless data collection, imaging, and RFID, and GlobeRanger announced that the U.S. Defense Distribution Center (DDC) has awarded Psion Teklogix a contract worth an estimated $1.8 million. Under the agreement, Psion Teklogix will deploy GlobeRanger's iMotion Edgeware throughout DDC facilities by the end of 2007.

AtHoc to present AtHoc IWSAlerts system at Ramstein Air Base Technology Exposition
Burlingame, Calif., 17 July 2006. AtHoc Inc., provider of net-centric emergency notification systems, has successfully deployed AtHoc installation emergency notification systems (AtHoc IWSAlerts) for the Army and the Air Force. The company will showcase its mass notification systems for installation protection and command and control at the Ramstein Air Base Technology Exposition from July 17 to 19 in Ramstein, Germany. AtHoc will demonstrate its enterprise-class alerting software.

Vmetro submits order for AdvancedIO Systems' 10GbE packet processing solution
VANCOUVER, Canada, 17 July 2006. AdvancedIO Systems Inc., maker of configurable 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) connectivity and packet processing solutions for the embedded computing market, has received a purchase order to supply a 10GbE packet processing solution to Vmetro Inc. AdvancedIO's solution is integral to Vmetro's Vortex data recording system, which was recently selected by a major U.S. Defense Contractor.

Sarnoff to design and produce replacement ICs for DLA and DSCC
PRINCETON, N.J., 14 July 2006. Sarnoff Corporation has announced a $12 million contract renewal with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) and the Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC) to continue the research and development and the production of military-quality microcircuits for equipment used by all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. Sarnoff will design and produce replacements for Integrated Circuits (IC) no longer in production by original manufacturers, but required by the military.

L-3 Communications lends ProVision body screening solution to DHS project
NEW YORK CITY, 14 July 2006. L-3 Communications' Security and Detection Systems subsidiary is participating in the second phase of the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Rail Security Pilot (RSP) project, which screens transit passengers for explosives. This phase of the project uses L-3's ProVision body screening portal at the Port Authority Trans Hudson Corporation's (PATH) Exchange Place Station in Jersey City, N.J. The trial is scheduled to take place July 13 through July 27.

Lockheed Martin awards data recording systems contract to Vmetro
Houston, Texas, 14 July 2006. Vmetro Inc. has announced receipt of a contract to supply Vortex Data Recording systems to support Lockheed Martin's work with the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (Aegis BMD) Weapon System.

Raytheon awards LaBarge a $2.1 million contract as part of JSOW program
ST. LOUIS, 13 July 2006. Raytheon Missile Systems has awarded LaBarge Inc. a $2.1 million contract to provide additional cables, called seeker harnesses, for the Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW) system. JSOW is a glide weapon that uses global positioning satellite information to find its target. The LaBarge-built cables send electronic data signals throughout the weapon.

Summation Research wins NOAA contract for critical weather satellite ground equipment
Melbourne, Fla., 13 July 2006. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has contracted Summation Research Inc. (SRI) to provide advanced Multi-Functional Satellite Demodulators in support of the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) weather satellite system. The contract award, when fully deployed, will be worth more than $400,000.
