U.S. Army orders 80 CMWS systems from BAE Systems
NASHUA, N.H., 10 July 2006. The U.S. Army has awarded BAE Systems a sole-source award for its Common Missile Warning System (CMWS) to protect Army fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft from heat-seeking missiles. BAE Systems has received a five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) award with a maximum ceiling of $1.4 billion. The Army ordered 80 CMWS systems for $23.2 million under the IDIQ.

Textron Systems wins $115 million contract to develop IMS for U.S. Army
WILMINGTON, Mass., 7 July 2006. Textron Systems has been awarded a $115 million contract for the system design and development phase of the Intelligent Munitions System (IMS) program by the U.S. Army Project Manager, Close Combat Systems, under the Program Executive Officer for Ammunition at Picatinny, New Jersey.

Department of Defense awards $1.36 million to develop carbonate hydrogen generating system
DANBURY, Conn., 7 July 2006. FuelCell Energy Inc., a manufacturer of ultra-clean electric power generation plants for commercial, industrial, and government customers, has developed a cost-efficient system to separate pure hydrogen from a gas mixture that can then be sold as fuel for hydrogen vehicles or industrial uses. The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded FuelCell Energy $1.36 million to advance this Electrochemical Hydrogen Separator project.

Argon ST acquires San Diego Research Center Incorporated
FAIRFAX, Va., 7 July 2006. Argon ST Inc., has announced that it completed the acquisition of San Diego Research Center Incorporated (SDRC) for approximately $41 million in cash. SDRC expects to realize approximately $20 million in revenue for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2006, and is expected to increase Argon's fourth quarter revenue by approximately $5 million.

VideoRay and BlueView enter agreement, announce largest multibeam sonar purchase
Tampa, Fla., 6 July 2006. VideoRay LLC and BlueView Technologies have announced an agreement outlining the purchase for resale of 50 ProViewer 450 sonar systems. The agreement will result in the rapid deployment of sonar technology to the more than 600 VideoRay users, and new customers of the companies' underwater inspection products.

NC4 announces acquisition of ESP Group secure Internet portal provider
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., 6 July 2006. NC4, a provider of situational awareness, incident monitoring, and crisis management technologies, has announced the acquisition of ESP Group LLC, a Virginia-based application service provider that specializes in secure internet portals. The acquisition of ESP Group will solidify NC4's position in real-time, 24/7 situational awareness and crisis management.

BAE Systems to demonstrate Precision Guidance Kit technology for Army cannon artillery
MINNEAPOLIS, 6 July 2006. BAE Systems has received a six-month contract from the U.S. Army's Project Manager, Combat Ammunition Systems, to participate in a competitive technical development program for the Precision Guidance Kit for use with Army cannon artillery ammunition.

Richardson Electronics' Security Systems Division changes name to Burtek Systems
LA FOX, Ill., 5 July 2006. Richardson Electronics Ltd. has announced that the company has changed the name of its Security Systems Division (SSD) to Burtek Systems (Burtek).

Molex to acquire Woodhead Industries
LISLE, Ill., and DEERFIELD, Ill., 5 July 2006. Molex Incorporated and Woodhead Industries Inc. have jointly announced that the two companies have signed a definitive merger agreement. Molex will acquire Woodhead in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $256 million, including payments with respect to outstanding stock options and the assumption of debt and net of cash acquired. The transaction has been approved by the Boards of Directors of both companies.

American Science and Engineering receives $2.3 million follow-on order for ZBVs from a Middle Eastern country
BILLERICA, Mass., 5 July 2006. American Science and Engineering Inc. (AS&E), maker of x-ray detection technology, announced the receipt of a $2.3 million order from a Middle Eastern law enforcement agency for multiple Z Backscatter Vans (ZBVs).
