Avionics designers at the L-3 Communications Display Systems segment in Alpharetta, Ga., needed a safety-critical real-time operating system (RTOS) for a portion of the Panoramic Cockpit Display (PCD) subsystem for the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) aircraft.
Harris Corporation selects AuthenTec biometric fingerprint sensor system for FDCA program WASHINGTON and MELBOURNE, Fla., 25 May 2006. Harris Corporation has selected AuthenTec, a biometric fingerprint sensor security company, to provide its EntrePad 1510 slide fingerprint sensors for the U.S. Census Bureau's Field Data Collection Automation (FDCA) program. FDCA is a five-year, $600 million program that will integrate various automated systems to obtain field census data.

Alion Science and Technology, a technology solutions provider for government and industry, has acquired Micro Analysis & Design (MA&D), a provider of human factors engineering, modeling, and simulation and software development in Boulder, Colo.
Fortress Technologies to provide security component of COASTS program TAMPA, Fla., 25 May 2006. Fortress Technologies has been selected to provide the security component for the upcoming Coalition Operating Area Surveillance and Targeting System (COASTS) field experimentation program, taking place in Thailand. Led by the Naval Postgraduate School, the COASTS program will demonstrate the value of wireless information exchanges to improve situational awareness across tactical, operational, and strategic domains.
Northrop Grumman names team for Secure Border Initiative network bid MCLEAN, Va., 24 May 2006. Leaders of the Northrop Grumman Corp. Information Technology's Intelligence Group in McLean, Va., named its team to compete for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secure Border Initiative Net (SBInet) -- a six-year, $2 billion program to design integrated technologies and rapid-response capability for border-protection.
American Government Services and Harris Corporation contribute to FTI-SAT program WASHINGTON, 24 May 2006. Americom Government Services Inc. (AGS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SES Americom, is partnering with prime contractor Harris Corporation to support the FTI Satellite (FTI-SAT) program of the Federal Aviation Administration. Under a multi-year contract, AGS will provide Ku-band and C-band connectivity, as well as redundant teleport facilities.
BAE Systems to power manned ground vehicles with Saft America's battery module SANTA CLARA, Calif., 24 May 2006. BAE Systems has selected the Space and Defense Division of Saft America Inc. of Cockeysville, Md., to supply the battery module, high voltage (BMHV) for the Future Combat System Manned Ground Vehicle program. BMHV is a component of the hybrid propulsion system. The value of the contract is $2 million.
