SkyBridge Technology Group acquires Sierra Pacific Aviation LAS VEGAS, 24 May 2006. The board of directors of SkyBridge Technology Group Inc., formerly SkyBridge Wireless Inc., has signed an acquisition agreement with San Diego, Calif.-based Sierra Pacific Aviation Inc., a Nevada Corporation. Sierra Pacific Aviation provides flight training, aircraft brokerage, and consulting to the aircraft industry, as well as counseling and placement services.
Cisco Systems to provide core network infrastructure for multinational military exercise LAGER AULENBACH, Germany, 23 May 2006. Cisco Systems has been selected to provide the core network infrastructure for Combined Endeavor 2006, a two-week operation designed to test the interoperability of communication systems for multinational forces deployed in humanitarian, peacekeeping, and disaster relief efforts.
Boeing to install electronic flight bags on Jet Airways planes SEATTLE, 23 May 2006. Boeing and Jet Airways of Mumbai, India, have entered into an agreement whereby Boeing's Class 3 Electronic Flight Bag will be installed on 10 new 777-300ER aircraft. Delivery of the planes is set to begin in early 2007. EFB is a core technology in Boeing's vision of an e-Enabled air-transport system in which data, information and knowledge can be shared easily across an aviation enterprise.
L-3 Communications bids to acquire TRL Electronics NEW YORK CITY, 23 May 2006. L-3 Communications announced that it has issued an offer to acquire TRL Electronics plc of Europe. TRL offers radio and satellite communications systems, providing governments and defense organizations around the world with the tools to trace, locate, monitor, and defend transmissions, as well as to communicate securely.
U.S. Air Force and Army contract DRS Technologies for $12 million in power generation and distribution equipment PARSIPPANY, N.J., 22 May 2006. The U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army have issued an order, valued at approximately $12 million, to DRS Technologies Inc. DRS will provide Deployable Power Generation and Distribution Systems (DPGDS), according to the agreement. The contract was awarded to DRS by the U.S. Air Force Air Armament Center (AAC) at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.
Lockheed Martin-built SXI to launch into orbit on GOES-N satellite PALO ALTO, Calif., 22 May 2006. Lockheed Martin announced that the Solar X-ray Imager (SXI) instrument, designed and built at its Space Systems Advanced Technology Center (ATC), is scheduled to be launched this week.
MDA contracts Raytheon to provide risk-reduction demonstration for NCADE program TUCSON, Ariz., 22 May 2006. The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) has awarded a $7 million contract to Raytheon Company for a risk-reduction demonstration associated with the evolving Network Centric Airborne Defense Element (NCADE) missile defense system program.
Parker introduces LFT electronics chassis during MEECC LONG BEACH, Calif., 19 May 2006. Parker Hannifin has designed and manufactured a standards-based liquid cooling technology demonstrator for high-power embedded electronics applications to support manufacturers and users of open-system architectures. The new release was unveiled at the Military Embedded Electronics and Computing Conference (MEECC) 2006 in Long Beach. Designed for the defense and aerospace communities, the new release is called a liquid flow-through electronics chassis.
General Dynamics to acquire division of Chamberlain Manufacturing FALLS CHURCH, Va., 19 May 2006. General Dynamics has entered into an agreement with Chamberlain Manufacturing Corporation (CMC) to acquire CMC's division in Scranton, Penn., which manufactures artillery projectiles and 120mm mortar bodies. CMC is a subsidiary of Elmhurst, Ill.-based Duchossois Industries Inc. Dynamics expects the transaction to be completed in the third quarter of 2006.
U.S. Army submits $3.2 million order for O.I. Corporation's air-monitoring equipment COLLEGE STATION, Texas, 19 May 2006. O.I. Corporation's wholly owned subsidiary, CMS Field Products, has received an order totaling $3.2 million from the U.S. Army for multiple units of its MiniCams continuous air-monitoring system. The MiniCams will be used to support chemical-defense testing at a U.S. Army chemical-defense testing site. The equipment will be delivered in multiple shipments, with the final shipment scheduled to be delivered no later than March 31, 2007.
