U.S. Army submits $3.2 million order for O.I. Corporation's air-monitoring equipment
COLLEGE STATION, Texas, 19 May 2006. O.I. Corporation's wholly owned subsidiary, CMS Field Products, has received an order totaling $3.2 million from the U.S. Army for multiple units of its MiniCams continuous air-monitoring system. The MiniCams will be used to support chemical-defense testing at a U.S. Army chemical-defense testing site. The equipment will be delivered in multiple shipments, with the final shipment scheduled to be delivered no later than March 31, 2007.

UltraVision launches perimeter motion-detection sensor
SALEM, N.H., 18 May 2006. UltraVision Security Systems has debuted its UltraSensor motion detector, a fixed sensor product. Designed to be installed underground, in building walls or ceilings, UltraSensor "sees" through earth, walls, and obstacles to detect motion and breathing.

General Dynamics to install knowledge management solution at L.A. Air Force base
LOS ANGELES, 18 May 2006. General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, has received a $9.6 million contract for the implementation and support of a Livelink knowledge management system at the Space and Missile Systems Center at the Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif. LiveLink is an intranet solution designed to enable collaborative knowledge management.

Tundra Semiconductor finalizes acquisition of Alliance Semiconductor's system solutions business
Ottawa, Canada, 18 May 2006. Tundra Semiconductor Corporation has completed the acquisition of the Systems Solutions Business Unit of Alliance Semiconductor Corporation. Tundra entered into an agreement on April 19 to acquire the assets -- intellectual property and several products, both in production and under development -- of the Alliance SSBU.

Bell Helicopter installs web-based machinery diagnostics system
PHOENIX, 17 May 2006. Bell Helicopter has adopted the IAC-1047 Intelligent Machinery Diagnostic Server to support its fleet of Bell 412 helicopters equipped with IAC's Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS). The IAC-1047 is an advanced web-based software system that automatically collects diagnostic information from aircraft distributed throughout the world.

NAVAIR selects Spirent Federal GPS system
YORBA LINDA, Calif., 17 May 2006. The U.S. Navy's Naval Air Systems Command PMA209 Common System Integration Lab in Patuxent River, Md., has purchased and taken delivery of a Spirent Simulation System from Spirent Federal, a provider of GPS satellite simulators. It will be used to test a variety of GPS Receivers.

Minus K and Kinetic Systems partner to debut vibration-isolation workstation
INGLEWOOD, Calif., 17 May 2006. Minus K Technology is partnering with Kinetic Systems Inc. for the new MK26 high-performance vibration isolation workstation. The MK26 integrates the Minus K patented Negative Stiffness vibration isolation technology with the Kinetic Systems workstation platform and accessories to deliver a compact, passive workstation with ultra-low sub-Hertz natural frequencies achieving 93-percent isolation efficiency at 2Hz, 99 percent at 5Hz, and 99.7 percent at 10Hz.

BAE Systems completes thermal weapon sight certification, receives contract
LEXINGTON, Mass., 16 May 2006. BAE Systems has completed U.S. Army qualification of its next-generation family of light, medium, and heavy thermal weapon sights (TWS). The company also has received additional base and option production contract modifications valued at $73 million, bringing the total current contract value to $200 million.

Defense contractors participate in Capitol Hill discussion of the industry
WASHINGTON, 16 May 2006. Several key players in the defense industry participated May 9 in a roundtable discussion on Capitol Hill hosted by Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC). Senior executives representing several leading defense contractors and associations were present for the session, which focused on the future of the defense industry and its relationship to manufacturing in the United States.

EADS and Saft America launch thermal battery company devoted to military market
MUNICH, Germany, PARIS, and COCKEYSVILLE, Md., 16 May 2006. EADS and Saft America's ASB subsidiary combine their knowledge of thermal batteries to form a new subsidiary: Advanced Thermal Batteries Inc. in Cockeysville, Md. Advanced Thermal Batteries Inc. supplies customized thermal batteries for missiles and smart weaponry.
