Petards sells surveillance software business to BAE Systems
BALTIMORE, Md., 31 Dec. 2007. Petards Inc., a developer of advanced surveillance systems, announced that its parent company, Petards Group plc, sold its U.K. Government and Commercial software business, including the Universal Video Management System, to BAE Systems Integrated System Technologies Ltd. for $5 million. Petards Inc. will continue to provide UVMS in North America through a licensing arrangement with BAE Systems.

BAE Systems enters agreement to acquire MTC Technologies Inc.
ROCKVILLE, Md., 30 Dec. 2007. BAE Systems has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire MTC Technologies Inc., a Dayton, Ohio-based company providing technical and professional services, and equipment integration and modernization for the U.S. military and intelligence agencies.

NATO adopts Adobe Flex for mission support system
SAN JOSE, Calif., 29 Dec. 2007. Adobe Systems Inc. revealed that the E-3A department of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), with its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, plans to adopt Adobe Flex software and Adobe LiveCycle Data Services ES for its new Mission Support System (MSS). The system will help improve NATO's operational readiness, by reducing the time to prepare for missions, and improve the delivery of information to flight crew members.

Amtech Systems receives $3.9 million solar order
TEMPE, Ariz., 28 Dec. 2007. Amtech Systems Inc., a global supplier of production and automation systems and related supplies for the manufacture of solar cells, semiconductors, and silicon wafers, announced the company has received a $3.9 million follow-on solar order for diffusion processing systems from an existing solar cell customer based in Taiwan.

API Nanotronics wins order from U.S. defense contractor
NEW YORK, N.Y., 27 Dec. 2007. API Nanotronics Corp., a supplier of electronic components and nanotechnology research and development to the defense and communications sectors, announced that its TM Systems division won a contract extension from a defense customer.

Toronto Airports Authority harnesses Bentley Geospatial Server, Oracle Spatial
EXTON, Pa., 26 Dec. 2007. Bentley Systems Inc. revealed that Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) has chosen Oracle Spatial integrated with Bentley Geospatial Server, including ProjectWise Connector for Oracle, to efficiently store, edit, and maintain spatial data used in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of Toronto Pearson International Airport. The diverse data will reside in an enterprise-wide geospatial database on Oracle Database 10g Release 2.

NORAD tracked Santa's journey live
PETERSON AFB, Colorado, 25 Dec. 2007. North American Aerospace Defense Command's NORAD Tracks Santa Operations Center kicked into high gear beginning at 2 a.m. MST Dec. 24, 2007. During the 24 hours the center operated, approximately 800 Santa tracking volunteers cycled through answering telephone calls and e-mails from children around the world who wish to get a fix on Santa Claus' whereabouts.

German Ministry of Defense selects EONIC signals acquistion system
Delft, The Netherlands, 24 Dec. 2007. EONIC B.V.'s SR-5124 Converged Multi-Channel Signals Acquisition System has been selected by the Bundesamt für Wehrtechnik und Beschaffung (BWB) of the German Ministry of Defense to upgrade the existing ELINT and COMINT infrastructure. The upgrade will be conducted in partnership with Schönhofer Sales and Engineering GmbH (SSE) in Siegburg, Germany.

U.S. Army's UH-72A light utility helicopter achieves program milestones
ARLINGTON, Va., 23 Dec. 2007. EADS North America's UH-72A Lakota program has achieved on-time or ahead-of-schedule deliveries of 16 operationally-ready Light Utility Helicopters for deployment with U.S. Army units across the country.
