U.S. Department of Defense grows spending on aircraft maintenance, repair
KIRKLAND, Wash., 8 Nov. 2007. A new research report, "Federal Supply Code J015: Maintenance and Repair of Aircraft Structural: Historical Revenues, Trends, and Participants," is available from G2 Solutions. In light of continued deployment and increasing platform age DoD spending in FSC J015 has more than doubled, from about $1.2 billion in FY 2002 to almost $2.4 billion in FY 2006.

OSI Geospatial expands work on U.S. Army command-and-control project
OTTAWA, Canada, 7 Nov. 2007. OSI Geospatial Inc.'s U.S. Systems Operations has signed a contract that increases the scope of work for an existing U.S. Army program by approximately $1.2 million. Under the terms of the contract, the company will enhance its command and control technology to meet U.S. Army operational requirements. The work will be performed over the next 8 to 12 months.

Lockheed Martin selects Photon Dynamics to develop color night-vision camera

Global market for advanced materials, sensors worth $9.4 billion by 2012

According to a new technical market research report, "Advanced Materials for Sensors" from BCC Research, the global market for advanced materials and sensors is expected to be worth $6.8 billion in 2007. It is expected to increase to more than $9.4 billion by 2012, demonstrating a compound average annual growth rate of 6.9 percent.

Input identifies more than $123 billion federal technology opportunities for 2008
RESTON, Va., 6 Nov. 2007. The Federal Government's top technology opportunities for open-market competition in fiscal year 2008 (FY 2008) are valued at $123 billion, according to reports released by Input. The top 20 overall FY 2008 federal opportunities indentified a combined value of more than $119 billion, not including an additional $4.4 billion in top 10 anticipated small business set-aside procurements.

Israeli Air Force officials select SimiGon air traffic controller trainer
ORLANDO, Fla., 5 Nov. 2007. SimiGon Limited has delivered its Air Traffic Controller Trainer to the Israeli Air Force (IAF), representing the first deployment of the PC-based training system incorporating flight program content and ATC training functionality. The ATC trainer will be used in all parts of Air Traffic Controller training, including new cadets and experienced officers.

Ultralife Batteries to acquire two power businesses

Ultralife Batteries Inc. has entered into definitive agreements to acquire all the outstanding shares of two affiliated companies headquartered in Clearwater, Fla.: Stationary Power Services Inc., an infrastructure power management services company, and Reserve Power Systems Inc., a provider of lead-acid batteries for standby power systems.

OSI Geospatial engineers to provide major U.S. port area with risk assessment
OTTAWA, Ontario, 4 Nov. 2007. OSI Geospatial Inc.'s U.S. Systems Operations has signed a $1.2 million contract to provide an integrated vulnerability assessment for the Sabine Neches port area in Texas. This area encompasses approximately 4 refineries, 37 chemical facilities, 4 storage facilities, assorted quarries, fueling stations, docks, and piers, as well as the Ports of Port Arthur, Port of Beaumont, and the Port of Orange.

NATS Inc. wins contract for radiation plume tracking system
MIDDLETOWN, Conn., 3 Nov. 2007. NATS Incorporated (North American Technical Services Inc.) of Middletown, Conn., was awarded a second contract from the government of Kuwait for an Advanced Early Warning System. The second phase of the contract involves development of an advanced software modeling system coupled with radiation sensors and meteorological sensors in the area to track and model radioactive plume.
