FLIR Systems gains $3.2 million order from U.S. Department of Defense
PORTLAND, Ore., 27 Oct. 2007. FLIR Systems Inc. has received a $3.2 million order from the United States Department of Defense for its next-generation, lightweight, high-performance thermal imager. This represents the first delivery order under a newly awarded $27 million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract. The units delivered under this order will be used by the U.S. military for reconnaissance and surveillance missions.

DataPath to upgrade U.S. Army, U.S. Navy satellite communications hubs
DULUTH, Ga., 26 Oct. 2007. DataPath Inc., a provider of satellite and wireless communications networks, won a $3.2 million contract to upgrade DataPath Deployable Ku Band Earth Terminals in the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility in Southwest Asia. With options, the contract could increase to a total value of $4.5 million.

Department of Homeland Security selects NC4 to deliver secure intelligence exchange
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., 26 Oct. 2007. The National Center for Crisis and Continuity Coordination (NC4), a provider of situational awareness, incident monitoring, crisis management, and secure collaboration, won a contract from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to enhance the Office of Intelligence & Analysis (I&A) information sharing capabilities.

Implant Sciences ships explosives detectors to Japanese government
WAKEFIELD, Mass., 26 Oct. 2007. Implant Sciences Corp. has shipped 26 Quantum Sniffer H-150 handheld explosives detectors to Japan. These detectors will be used by the Japanese government in its continuing security efforts. No further detail as to the use and locations of the equipment was provided.

RE2 Inc., JAUS Software to develop high-speed unmanned ground vehicle with manipulator arm
PITTSBURGH, Pa., 25 Oct. 2007. RE2 Inc., a provider of intelligent modular manipulation systems, and JAUS software solutions have won a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program by the U.S. Army to further develop a small, high-speed, highly maneuverable unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) with a manipulator arm.

Telephonics Corp. to provide components to AN/APS-147 multi-mode radar systems for U.S. Navy's MH-60R helicopter
FARMINGDALE, N.Y., 25 Oct. 2007. The Radar Systems Division of Telephonics Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Griffon Corp., won a spares contract valued in excess of $42 million from Lockheed Martin Systems Integration-Owego, N.Y. This modification to a previously awarded contract includes the delivery of spare components for the AN/APS-147 Multi-Mode Radar (MMR) system.

U.S. Air Force funds Ascent Solar Technologies' high-efficiency solar cell program
LITTLETON, Colo., 25 Oct. 2007. Ascent Solar Technologies Inc., a developer of thin-film photovoltaic materials, announced that the US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has contracted to increase funding of Ascent Solar's development of high-performance thin-film tandem photovoltaics (PV) based on flexible monolithically integrated CIGS technology. The contract modification represents up to $749,000 of additional contract value over a 27-month period.

Telephonics Corp. wins U.S. Coast Guard award for wireless intercommunications systems
FARMINGDALE, N.Y., 24 Oct. 2007. Telephonics Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Griffon Corp., won a $3.7M contract from the United States Coast Guard for Submersible TruLink Wireless Intercommunication Systems. The Submersible TruLink is a modified version of its current wireless intercommunications system used by commercial and military customers. TruLink provides hands-free, untethered voice communications in very high noise environments.

iRobot gains $8.8 million U.S. military order for PackBot robots
BURLINGTON, Mass., 24 Oct. 2007. iRobot Corp. received a delivery order totaling $8.8 million from the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation (PEO STRI), on behalf of the Robotic Systems Joint Project Office at Redstone Arsenal, Ala. This order for 40 iRobot PackBot robots, plus spare parts and equipment, brings total orders to date from PEO STRI to $45 million. iRobot expects to complete delivery by the end of June 2008.

SANZ wins Department of Defense order for data management
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., 24 Oct. 2007. SANZ Inc., a subsidiary of SAN Holdings Inc., a provider of data access solutions, has received a $930,000 renewal order for integrated data access solutions from a Department of Defense customer.
