Universal Display Corp. wins SBIR to develop flexible OLED Display on metal foil EWING, N.J., 23 Oct. 2007. Universal Display Corp. , a force behind evolving displays and lighting with its PHOLED phosphorescent OLED technology, won a $935,000 contract extension by the U.S. Army Communication Electronics Research and Development Engineering Center. The extension builds on a Small Business Innovative Research Phase III grant with CERDEC for the development of flexible, active-matrix OLED display technology in a prototype wrist-based communications device.
BAE Systems radiation-hardened computers aboard WorldView-1 satellite MANASSAS, Va., 23 Oct. 2007. Two BAE Systems RAD750 radiation-hardened single-board computers are managing the command and control functions onboard the WorldView-1 satellite, launched aboard a Delta II rocket. WorldView-1 was built by Ball Aerospace and is owned and operated by DigitalGlobe. It is part of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's NextView program, which will provide high-resolution images of Earth.
ISSYS wins Phase II SBIR grant from NSF for wafer-scale, hermetic, hybrid integration of MEMS and electronics YPSILANTI, Mich., 23 Oct. 2007. Integrated Sensing Systems Inc. (ISSYS) won a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research contract from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The two-year project, titled "Wafer-Scale, Hermetic, Packaging of MEMS-Based Systems," is aimed at the development of a novel packaging method to simplify the packaging of MEMS and associated electronics.
ViaSpace relative humidity sensors used with hydrogen fuel cells PASADENA, Calif., 22 Oct. 2007. ViaSpace Inc., a company that transforms space and defense technologies from NASA and the Department of Defense into hardware and software solutions, has received an order for its ViaSensor HS-1000 Relative Humidity sensor from Ballard Power Systems.
Cubic to provide virtual training systems to U.S. Army in Iraq, Afghanistan SAN DIEGO, Calif., 22 Oct. 2007. The defense segment of Cubic Corp. has received in excess of $6.8 million to deliver its Engagement Skills Trainer 2000 (EST 2000) small arms training system and other defense-related products to U.S. Army installations in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as to the Army National Guard.
TSA awards multiple contracts to expand security technology WASHINGTON, 22 Oct. 2007. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded $52.3 million in contracts to deploy security technology piloted at airports and mass transit facilities in recent months, moving to quickly bring enhanced screening equipment to travelers. Newly procured technology includes: advanced technology X-ray; automated explosives detection for the checkpoint; bottled liquid scanners; passive millimeter wave; and a cast/prosthetics screening device.
Quantum3D Thermite Tactical Visual Computer selected by U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Command for Future Force Warrior WASHINGTON, 21 Oct. 2007. Quantum3D Inc., a provider of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), open-architecture, real-time visual computing solutions, at the Association of U.S. Army (AUSA) 2007 Annual Conference, announced that the Thermite Tactical Visual Computer (TVC) was selected by the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Command to support the Army's Future Force Warrior (FFW) Increment 2.
TCS and Glowlink to manage wideband global SATCOM Satellite ANNAPOLIS, Md., 20 Oct. 2007. TeleCommunication Systems Inc., provider of mission-critical wireless communications, and Glowlink Communications Technology Inc., a manufacturer of satellite monitoring equipment, won a satellite hardware and services contract valued at approximately $8 million to support the spectrum management of the Wideband Global SATCOM Satellite system and to continue support for the monitoring and service of the Defense Satellite Communications System satellites.
SYS Technologies to provide systems engineering, integration to SPAWAR SAN DIEGO, 19 Oct. 2007. SYS Technologies Inc., a provider of information connectivity solutions that enable situational awareness and real-time collaboration, won a five-year prime contract valued at approximately $6.4 million if all options are exercised to provide technical support services for Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR).
FLIR Systems wins $9.3 million order from Naval Surface Warfare Center PORTLAND, Ore., 19 Oct. 2007. FLIR Systems Inc. has received a $9.3 million fixed-price contract from NSWC, Crane Division, for AN/KAX-1A Maritime Forward-Looking Infrared systems. The stabilized, lightweight, multisensor systems delivered under this contract will support the Long Range Ground Mobility Visual Augmentation Systems (LR-GMVAS) Program and provide ground vehicles with an all-weather, day/night, high-resolution, stabilized, thermal imaging capability.
