BAE Systems unveils helmet-mounted display to increase pilot situational awareness WASHINGTON, 10 Oct. 2007. BAE Systems has developed new helmet-mounted display technology that addresses a critical warfighter need for enhanced situational awareness. The company unveiled its Q-Sight family of helmet displays and tracking products at the Association of the U.S. Army's Annual Symposium and Exhibition in Washington.
Ultralife Batteries reports $7.9 million reduction in McDowell Research purchase price NEWARK, N.Y., 10 Oct. 2007. Ultralife Batteries Inc. has agreed with the sellers of McDowell Research to reduce the purchase price relating to Ultralife's acquisition of McDowell Research in July 2006. The negotiated reduction of $7.9 million reduces the total purchase price from approximately $28.4 million to $20.5 million.
OSI Systems gains $9.3 million order for TSA's advanced technology program HAWTHORNE, Calif., 9 Oct. 2007. OSI Systems Inc.'s Security division, Rapiscan Systems, won a $9.3 million contract from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for its 620DV Advanced Technology X-ray systems. The contract, representing half of the total systems currently ordered by TSA, follows successful piloting of Advanced Technology (AT) Passenger Carry-On Bag Screening Systems at select airport locations.

Army seeks to leverage laser drill technology for possible stand-off weapon use FORT BELVOIR, Va., 8 Oct. 2007. U.S. Army researchers are canvassing U.S. industry and colleges to determine if anyone is capable of fitting a high-energy laser drill to a humvee land vehicle and using it to penetrate 8 to 12 inches into dense material from distances as far away as 320 feet.
Advanced Compliance Solutions adds military testing, acquires Rubicom Systems ATLANTA, 3 Oct. 2007. Advanced Compliance Solutions Inc. has acquired Rubicom Systems, maker of aerospace and military testing solutions for more than 20 years. Rubicom, based in Melbourne, Fla., and founded by Joe Barbee, specializes in testing for military, aerospace, and defense applications and counts Northrop Grumman, Rockwell Collins, and Avidyne Corp. as customers.

The United Kingdom Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced that Thales U.K. in partnership with Boeing's Defence U.K. subsidiary have been selected as the preferred bidder for the role of System of Systems Integrator (SOSI) for the Future Rapid Effect System (FRES) program.
BAE Systems launches, tests V-22 defensive weapon system QUANTICO, Va., 7 Oct. 2007. BAE Systems unveiled its new remotely operated turreted weapon system, the Remote Guardian System (RGS), designed to provide 360 degrees of suppressive fire for the Marine Corps V-22 tilt-rotor aircraft.
BearingPoint wins $57.9 million contract to provide U.S. Navy IT management support MCLEAN, Va., 6 Oct. 2007. BearingPoint Inc. won a contract to provide business transformation, Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), and IT support services for the U.S. Navy's Naval Network Warfare Command (NETWARCOM). The contract is for one year with four annual options, and has an award ceiling of $57.9 million.
