ANNISTON, Ala., 25 Sept. 2007. BAE Systems was awarded an $8.1 million contract from Anniston Army Depot, to overhaul 65 M113A3 armored personnel carriers.

Freescale leverages power architecture Technology to Evolve Robotic, Kiosk and Unmanned Vehicle Capabilities
AUSTIN, Texas, 25 Sept. 2007. Freescale Semiconductor introduces the MPC8610 integrated host processor, a high-performance device based on Power Architecture technology. The MPC8610 helps robots see and navigate in 3D space, enables touch-screen kiosks to recognize voices and facial features, and allows cockpit controls to display images with high resolution.

BAE Systems delivers F-35 electronic warfare system
NASHUA, N.H., 24 Sept. 2007. BAE Systems has completed acceptance testing for the F-35 Lightning II electronic warfare (EW) suite spiral release 2. The system met all contractual requirements during formal evaluation by Lockheed Martin program officials. The final electronic warfare suite will detect, analyze, evaluate, and react to EW threats fielded by potential adversaries.

LynuxWorks RTOS solution adopted for ship self-defense system

Port of Charleston debuts port security inspection system to protect against terrorist attacks
CHARLESTON, S.C., 24 Sept. 2007. American Science and Engineering Inc. (AS&E), maker of x-ray detection technology, and The National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center-South East (NLECTC-SE) presented a port security cargo-screening system deployed by Project Seahawk for use at the Port of Charleston's U.S. Customs and Border Protection Container Examination Station.

CHINA LAKE, Calif., 22 Sept. 2007. BAE Systems shot two guided Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) rockets from a U.S. Marine Corps Cobra helicopter. The tests mark the first flights of the APKWS precision-guided weapon from an aircraft.

The Finnish Defence Force gains unattended networked sensing system
ESSEX, U.K., 21 Sept. 2007. The Finnish Defence Force has procured HYDRA, the unattended, networked sensing system developed by SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems (S&AS) UK, a Finmeccanica company. The FDF will employ HYDRA as a system for perimeter and border control at tactical level.

TCS wins U.S. Marine Corps order for integrated communication systems
ANNAPOLIS, Md., 21 Sept. 2007. TeleCommunication Systems Inc., provider of mission-critical wireless communications, won a five-year contract from the U.S. Marine Corps. The order is initially funded for $6.7 million with potential for a total of $64 million, including all option years. TCS will enable both data and voice connectivity for deployed Marine Corps units.

DRS Technologies wins $11 million contract from U.S. Army to manufacture tactical quiet generators
PARSIPPANY, N.J., 21 Sept. 2007. DRS Technologies Inc. has received an $11 million contract from the U.S. Army's Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) at Fort Monmouth, N.J. to manufacture Tactical Quiet Generators (TQG).
