Hydroid wins U.K. Ministry of Defence contract for autonomous underwater vehicles POCASSET, Mass., 12 Sept. 2007. Hydroid LLC, a manufacturer of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), was awarded a multisystem, multiyear contract by the U.K. Ministry of Defence to supply the Royal Navy with REMUS 600 AUVs. The contract specifies for the supply of two REMUS 600 systems complete with operating, deployment, recovery, and support equipment, and training and associated logistic support. The contract also exercised options for two additional vehicles and ancillary equipment.
RFID handheld reader market experiences growth NATICK, Mass., 12 Sept. 2007. Nearly 250,000 handheld RFID reader units were shipped in 2006, accounting for nearly 20 percent of all reader units shipped.
NTS relocates Naval Surface Warfare Center testing capabilities CALABASAS, Calif., 12 Sept, 2007. National Technical Systems Inc., a provider of engineering services, has signed an agreement to relocate the complete Dynamics and Environmental Test Laboratory from the U.S. Navy's Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Panama City, Fla., Base to the company's Camden Operations facility.
IceWEB delivers network anomaly detection tool to Department of Defense HERNDON, Va., 7 Sept. 2007. IceWEB Inc. won a contract award from a Department of Defense agency to provide Network Anomaly Detection. IceWEB will provide the DoD with Network Anomaly Detection Systems (ADS), network behavior analysis systems, that enhance network intelligence and security by auditing network flow data from existing infrastructure devices.
ITT to provide night vision to U.S. Navy and Coast Guard through 2012 WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., 11 Sept. 2007. ITT Corp.'s night vision division has won a contract to provide night vision equipment to the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard through 2012. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, in Crane, Ind., awarded the indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract for submersible AN/PVS-14 night vision monocular devices. The contract has a potential total value of $37 million. Work for the contract will be performed at ITT Night Vision, based in Roanoke, Va.
Intersil Corp. acquires Planet ATE, maker of integrated analog pin electronics MILPITAS, Calif., 11 Sept. 2007. Intersil Corp., maker of high-performance analog solutions, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Planet ATE Inc., a privately held, fabless semiconductor supplier to the automated test equipment (ATE) market.
PURVIS Systems wins contract awards from NAVSEA Naval Undersea Warfare Center MIDDLETOWN, R.I., 11 Sept. 2007. Purvis Systems Inc., an IT systems and service provider for the defense, public safety, and emergency management industries, has been awarded two contracts by the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport.
StillSecure and EDS to deliver enterprise-wide IA solutions to Navy Marine Corps SUPERIOR, Colo., 10 Sept. 2007. StillSecure, creator of secure network infrastructure software, has entered into a subcontractor relationship with EDS to deliver network security/information assurance (IA) solutions to the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI). NMCI is the largest private network in the world linking nearly 400,000 workstations and laptops for more than 660,000 Navy and Marine Corps users worldwide.
IPv6 and HSPD-12 drive growth in federal IT spending RESTON, Va., 10 Sept. 2007. Information Technology (IT) security spending by the U.S. Federal Government is expected to increase from $5.9 billion in 2007 to $7.4 billion by 2012, according to the Federal Information Security Market Forecast 2007-2012 recently released by Input. Growth is expected to be driven by spending on Identity and Access Management and Security Operations, while FISMA Compliance spending flattens.
Phoenix Aerospace Inc. gains order for pneumatic power solution for military jets CARSON CITY, Nev., 10 Sept. 2007. Phoenix International Ventures Inc.'s wholly owned subsidiary, Phoenix Aerospace Inc., has received a $363,000 purchase order to deliver Air Start Cart systems to a major defense contractor. Air Start Carts provide pneumatic power to start jet engines. Delivery is expected by the end of October 2008.
