Xenonics receives $1.5 million NightHunter order CARLSBAD, Calif., 9 Sept. 2007. Xenonics Holdings Inc., maker of advanced illumination and low-light viewing technologies, has received a new purchase order valued at approximately $1.5 million from Aardvark Tactical Inc. (ATI), Azusa, Calif., for Xenonics' NightHunter One high-intensity illumination devices to be included in ATI's force protection integration projects for the U.S. military. This order is expected to ship this calendar year.
BAE Systems develops surveillance sensors for U.S. Navy HONOLULU, 8 Sept. 2007. BAE Systems has received a $49 million U.S. Navy contract to develop a system that can rapidly identify and track camouflaged or concealed objects and targets.
SpaceDev provides satellite hardware to Mitsubishi POWAY, Calif., 7 Sept. 2007. SpaceDev will deliver more than 200 satellite components for Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, based on three contract awards totaling approximately $800,000. SpaceDev will provide its patented Starsys Cell Shorting Device (CSD), a battery cell bypass device incorporating its Starsys high output paraffin technology. The device monitors the health of individual battery cells and automatically isolates a cell from the spacecraft.
India to modernize armed forces, grow unmanned aerial vehicle market SINGAPORE, 7 Sept. 2007. According to a new study from Frost & Sullivan, organizations in India have ambitious plans to meet the global benchmark and modernize its armed forces in terms of military resource capabilities due to pressing security, military, and maritime reconnaissance needs. The introduction of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is one of the first steps toward achieving this goal.
Infinity Technology assists Lockheed Martin Space with NASA Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle HUNTSVILLE, Ala., 6 Sept. 2007. Infinity Technology Inc. will serve as subcontractor to Lockheed Martin Space (LMS) on the upcoming NASA Orion CEV contract. Once completed, Orion/Ares will be NASA's next-generation human space flight crew transportation system and a key element of NASA's Vision for Space Exploration.
AeroVironment provides logistics support for U.S. Army Raven UAVs MONROVIA, Calif., 6 Sept. 2007. The U.S. Army has ordered $16.4 million in contract logistics services (CLS) in support of its Raven small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) from AeroVironment Inc. (AV), provider of unmanned aircraft systems and efficient electric energy systems. These logistics services include refurbishment, reconstitution, and repair work, as well as the migration of systems to the latest configuration during the completion of refurbishment.
TriQuint Semiconductor acquires Peak Devices Inc. HILLSBORO, Ore., 6 Sept. 2007. TriQuint Semiconductor, a manufacturer of wireless products, has completed the acquisition of Peak Devices Inc., of Boulder, Colo., in a cash transaction. Peak Devices is a privately held, fabless semiconductor company that focuses on RF discrete transistor technology.
AT&T selects Thales Datacryptors for Department of Defense award WESTON, Fla., 5 Sept. 2007. AT&T Government Solutions will deploy Thales SONET Datacryptors on the Joint Hawaii Information Transfer System (JHITS) network. AT&T Government Solutions was awarded the contract by Defense Information Technology Office (DITCO), which is a part of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), a division of the Department of Defense (DoD). The JHITS contract has an estimate contract value of $250 million.
Comtech Telecommunications Corp. wins $605.1 million movement tracking system contract MELVILLE, N.Y., 5 Sept. 2007. Comtech Telecommunications Corp.'s Maryland-based subsidiary, Comtech Mobile Datacom Corp., has won a new $605.1 million indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with the U.S. Army for its Movement Tracking System (MTS).
State and local governments to invest $5.5 billion in public safety interoperability by 2012 RESTON, Va., 5 Sept. 2007. Input forecasts that the state and local public safety interoperable communications marketplace will grow to $5.5 billion by 2012, including $3.4 billion from various federal funding sources. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration issued the Public Safety Interoperable Communications (PSIC) grant program, which will provide nearly $1 billion for agencies and jurisdictions to improve public safety communications.
