BAE Systems enhances mission planning framework
SAN DIEGO, 17 Aug. 2007. A BAE Systems-led team is one of two entrants selected for the next phase of a program to enhance mission planning in U.S. Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps fixed-wing aircraft operations.

L-3 Link selects Quantum3D Independence for USN P-3C tort visual system upgrade
SAN JOSE, Calif., 17 Aug. 2007. Quantum3D Inc., a provider of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), open-architecture, real-time visual computing solutions, revealed that L-3 Communications Link Simulation and Training (L-3 Link) has selected Quantum3D Independence IDX 2500 ER Image Generator solutions as part of the upgrades that L-3 Link is performing on the P-3C Tactical Operational Readiness Trainer (TORT) for the U.S. Navy.

Crane Co. acquires mobile rugged business of Kontron America
STAMFORD, Conn., 17 Aug. 2007. Crane Co., a manufacturer of engineered industrial products, has acquired the Mobile Rugged Business (MRB) of Kontron America Inc., which produces computers, electronics, and flat-panel displays for harsh environment applications. The purchase price is $26.6 million in cash. MRB had sales of approximately $25 million in 2006.

Agilent Technologies to acquire NetworkFab, developer of signal intelligence and communications systems
SANTA CLARA, Calif., 16 Aug. 2007. Agilent Technologies Inc. and NetworkFab Corp. have signed a definitive agreement for NetworkFab to join Agilent. Privately held NetworkFab designs and builds advanced signal intelligence, communications, and jammer systems for the U.S. military, intelligence agencies ,and law enforcement groups. The transaction is subject to various standard closing conditions and is expected to close in 30 to 60 days. Financial details were not disclosed.

Interface Displays & Controls delivers control display unit data entry panel to the USAF A-10 aircraft program
OCEANSIDE, Calif., 16 Aug. 2007. Interface Displays & Controls Inc., a certified women-owned small business, delivered newly designed A-10 CDU data entry panels (DEPs) to the U.S. Air Force (USAF) A-10 program. These form, fit and function DEPs utilize new materials that significantly improve reliability to improve A-10 aircraft mission availability, while reducing maintenance costs.

BAE Systems demonstrates FAST waveform
WAYNE, N.J., 16 Aug. 2007. BAE Systems has completed a demonstration of its Flexible Access Secure Transfer (FAST) networking waveform. FAST, an effort to modernize the NATO-standard Link 16 computer data exchange format, is a wireless networking protocol developed for airborne tactical networking.
