Xenonics to develop light technology for unmanned aerial vehicle CARLSBAD, Calif., 17 Dec. 2007. Xenonics Holidings Inc., maker of high-intensity illumination and high-definition night vision technologies, has received a research and development contract from Advanced Ceramics Research Inc. (ACR), Tucson, Ariz., to develop a high-intensity illumination system for the new unmanned aerial vehicle ACR is under contract to develop for the U.S. Government.
Technest Holdings wins SBIR contract to develop miniature 3D sensor for urban combat special ops BETHESDA, Md., 17 Dec. 2007. Technest Holdings Inc., a 3D imaging company, won an SBIR Phase I grant from the United States Army to develop miniaturized, low-cost processing 3D sensor technology for Near Real-time Structure Mapping for Urban Combat Special Operations.
Basis Technology localizes Lockheed Martin Coherent Technologies WindTracer Lidar system CAMBRIDGE, Mass., 17 Dec. 2007. Basis Technology announced the internationalization and localization of the WindTracer Lidar system into Japanese, enabling Lockheed Martin Coherent Technologies (LMCT) to install its second system at Tokyo International Airport in Narita for the Japanese Meteorological Agency in early 2008.
AMETEK acquires California Instruments Corp., expands in test and measurement segment PAOLI, Pa., 16 Dec. 2007. AMETEK Inc. has acquired privately held California Instruments Corp. Based in San Diego, California Instruments delivers programmable alternating current (AC) power sources used to test electrical and electronic products. California Instruments has annual sales of approximately $22 million.
Brijot Imaging Systems wins contract award from U.K. government for millimeter wave imaging systems ORLANDO, Fla., 15 Dec. 2007. Brijot Imaging Systems Inc., maker of passive millimeter wave object detection and people screening technology, has received a contract for the supply, installation, and maintenance of passive millimeter wave imaging technology to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC), a U.K. government department.
Micronetics wins development order for airborne electronic warfare subassembly HUDSON, N.H., 14 Dec. 2007. Micronetics Inc.'s subsidiary Microwave Concepts Inc. (MicroCon) has won a development order from an industry-leading systems integrator serving the U.S. military. This initial order, totaling more than $1 million, is for a complex integrated microwave subassembly used in an airborne electronic warfare systems.
Trelleborg acquires Sealing Solutions Inc., enhances service to aerospace/defense FORT WAYNE, Ind., 14 Dec. 2007. Trelleborg, through its Trelleborg Sealing Solutions business area, has acquired the operations of Sealing Solutions Inc. Sealing Solutions Inc. offers supply chain management services, and its product line is consistent with the existing product line available through Trelleborg Sealing Solutions. This acquisition will enable Trelleborg Sealing Solutions to expand its market presence in the Americas, particularly in the aerospace and defense industries.
NASA selects Boeing as prime contractor for Ares I rocket avionics WASHINGTON, 13 Dec. 2007. NASA has selected The Boeing Company of Huntsville, Ala., as the prime contractor to produce, deliver, and install avionics systems for the Ares I rocket that will launch the Orion crew exploration vehicle into orbit. The selection is the final major contract award for Ares I.
EDO wins $86 million order for CREW 2.1 counter-IED systems NEW YORK, 13 Dec. 2007. The Department of Defense announced that EDO Corp. has received orders for 1,136 additional "CREW 2.1" vehicle-mounted electronic jammers, to be delivered by April 2008. This fixed-price award of $86.5 million is for the EDO model known as the CREW Vehicle Receiver/Jammer (CVRJ) system.
BAE Systems tests autonomous aircraft landing system EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif., 12 Dec. 2007. BAE Systems has completed the first test of an autonomous landing system intended for large mobility and transport aircraft. The test demonstrated the system's ability to enhance pilot vision in a simulated zero-visibility landing scenario. The Dec. 6 demonstration of the Autonomous Approach and Landing Capability (AALC) system took place at the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base aboard a C-130H aircraft.
