Study imparts market value of software-defined radio DENVER, 1 August 2007. Software-defined radio (SDR) is poised to play a major role, according to a new study commissioned by the SDR Forum (www.sdrforum.org), a nonprofit international industry association for reconfigurable wireless technology.

The U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has awarded Electro Energy Inc., a provider of advanced battery technologies and associated systems, a competitive contract for the manufacture and delivery of batteries for the U.S. Army Kiowa helicopter.
Comtech Telecommunications Corp. gains $5.9 million in movement tracking system orders for mobile satellite applications MELVILLE, N.Y., 31 July 2007. Comtech Telecommunications Corp.'s Maryland-based subsidiary, Comtech Mobile Datacom Corporation, received orders totaling $5.9 million under its Movement Tracking System (MTS) contract with the U.S. Army. Total orders received to date against the $463.2 million MTS contract increased to $404.7 million.
ITT Corporation Selects PrismTech's Spectra Tools for JTRS-Related SDR Application Development BOSTON, 31 July 2007.> PrismTech, maker of middleware and development tools, announced that ITT Corporation has selected PrismTech's Spectra Tools for the development and deployment of software-defined radio (SDR) applications. ITT will use Spectra Tools for waveform and platform component design, code generation, and to verify portability, code accuracy, and Software Communications Architecture (SCA) compliance.
Zinc Matrix Power changes name to ZPower Inc. CAMARILLO, Calif., 31 July 2007. Management at Zinc Matrix Power, a global provider and developer of silver-zinc, rechargeable battery technology, has changed the company name to ZPower Inc. The name change reflects one of several key elements in the mangement's strategy as it moves from pilot production to high-volume battery manufacturing in 2008.
L-1 Identity Solutions completes acquisition of Advanced Concepts Inc. STAMFORD, Conn., 30 July 2007. L-1 Identity Solutions Inc. has completed the acquisition of privately-held Advanced Concepts Inc. (ACI). The acquisition is expected to enhance L-1 Identity Solutions' customer base within the U.S. government and provide a greater depth of complementary services.
Lockheed Martin selects RemoteReality to provide intelligent-omni-video systems for Naval defense against fast inshore attack craft WESTBOROUGH, Mass., 30 July 2007. Lockheed Martin has selected RemoteReality Corporation's intelligent-omni-video systems for persistent situational awareness to integrate into the company's Fast Inshore Attack Craft (FIAC) Defense System. Lockheed Martin's proof-of-concept FIAC Defense System extends the defensive perimeter of most naval vessels out to five miles to counter the globally emerging threat of small attack boat swarms.
Cirrus Logic completes acquisition of Apex Microtechnology AUSTIN, Texas, 30 July 2007. Cirrus Logic Inc., maker of high-precision analog and digital signal processing components, has closed on its agreement to acquire Apex Microtechnology, a provider of precision high-power analog amplifier products, for approximately $42 million in cash.
Raytheon selects GE Fanuc Embedded Systems for Zumwalt-class destroyer program CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., 29 July 2007. Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) has selected GE Fanuc Embedded Systemst to supply single-board computers for the DDG 1000 destroyer. The DDG 1000 is the lead ship in the Zumwalt class of next-generation, multimission surface combatants tailored for land attack and littoral dominance with capabilities designed to defeat current and projected threats, as well as improve battle force defense.
OSI Geospatial signs U.S. Army contracts VANCOUVER, B.C., 28 July 2007. OSI Geospatial Inc.'s U.S. Systems Operations has signed two contracts with the U.S. Army valued at approximately $750,000. Under the terms of the contracts, the company will enhance its command and control technology to support U.S. Army requirements.
