Ball Aerospace wins MASINT contract DAYTON, Ohio, 10 July 2007. The U.S. Air Force has awarded Ball Aerospace & Technologies a $1.45 million contract for the Measurement and Signature Intelligence Distributed Exploitation Element (Squadron Stand Up. Engineers at Ball Aerospace and Raytheon Company will coordinate with personnel at the National Air and Space Intelligence Center and the Ohio Air National Guard to provide analysis of MASINT and Advanced Geospatial Intelligence data for Air Force users.
AeroVironment's Puma UAS logs five-hour flight with hybrid power system MONROVIA, Calif., 9 July 2007. AeroVironment (AV), maker of unmanned aircraft systems and electric energy systems, flew its Puma small unmanned aircraft for nearly five hours while it was powered by an onboard fuel cell battery hybrid energy storage system. This demonstration marked the completion of the first task under AV's contract with the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) for the development of advanced propulsion technologies for unmanned aircraft.

Boeing's newest plane rolled out of the hangar for the first time on July 8 -- an example of how Washington state's aerospace industry is climbing to new heights. Washington manufacturing employment showed healthy gains last year and early this year in contrast to the national picture, thanks in large part to the state's extensive aerospace business. Washington is not done yet, according to economists and aerospace observers.
VDC Display Systems wins SBIR Phase I research contract to CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., 7 July 2007. VDC Display Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Video Display Corporation, has won an SBIR Phase I study for the evaluation and potential development of a "Deployable, Intelligent Projector System for Training" by the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division.
