Rockwell Collins selects Spirent Federal for GPS contract YORBA LINDA, Calif., 3 July 2007. Rockwell Collins has selected Spirent Federal Systems Inc., a provider of GPS satellite simulators, to supply multiple GPS simulators to support the Modernized User Equipment (MUE) Receiver Card Development contract the company has with the GPS Wing. The GPS modernization effort is a system-wide program that includes upgrades to space, control, and user segments.

Alenia Aeronautica, Dassault Aviation, and Saab join forces on next-generation European UAV surveillance system SAINT-CLOUD, France, 2 July 2007. Alenia Aeronautica, Dassault Aviation, and Saab AB have signed a letter of intent to expand and intensify their cooperation to the MALE (medium altitude long endurance) unmanned air vehicle (UAV) system. This cooperation addresses the trend of increased UAV use in defense, civil, and commercial applications, and especially on the growing market demand for the MALE UAV systems solutions.
Bombardier Aerospace, Belfast, awards multimillion-dollar contracts to Ireland-based suppliers PARIS, 1 July 2007. Bombardier Aerospace, Belfast, has awarded contracts totaling $12.7 million to six companies on the island of Ireland. Contracts, valued at just under $10 million over a three-year period, have been signed with five Northern Ireland-based suppliers. The companies -- John Huddleston Engineering, Dontaur Engineering, J.W. Kane Precision Engineering, Moyola Precision Engineering, and Maydown Precision Engineering -- will supply components for various aircraft programs.
Ngrain and CAE win Canadian Department of National Defence contract for simulation services VANCOUVER, B.C., 30 June 2007. Ngrain, provider of 3D performance support solutions, will deliver customized 3D solutions to the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) in partnership with the CAE Professional Services (PS) team. Ngrain's activities will fall under a contract that was awarded to CAE by the DND and is valued at up to $10 million. Ngrain will provide interactive 3D training solutions to support DND Synthetic Environment (SE) project activities.
Mercury Computer Systems and PNNL use gaming technology to develop national security solutions CHELMSFORD, Mass., 29 June 2007. The same computing power used in millions of game consoles may soon help tackle computational challenges in national security, cyberspace, and bioinformatics. Mercury Computer Systems Inc. and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) are collaborating to apply multicore technology, such as graphics processing units (GPUs) and the Cell broadband engine (BE) processor, to these critical applications.

FLIR Systems receives $36.4 million order from U.S. Army for multisensor systems PORTLAND, Ore., 29 June 2007. FLIR Systems Inc. won a $36.4 million firm fixed-price contract from the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command in Huntsville, Ala., its Star SAFIRE III stabilized multisensor systems. The units delivered under this contract will support the U.S. Marine Corps G-BOSS (Ground-Based Optical Surveillance System) program. Work will be performed in FLIR's Portland, Ore., production facility. Deliveries will begin immediately.
FLIR Systems Announces U.S. Customs and Border Protection Contract PORTLAND, Ore., 28 June 2007. FLIR Systems Inc. won a contract valued at $6.0 million from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for Ranger III multi-sensor systems. The systems will be installed along the southern U.S. border as upgrades to older thermal imaging systems.
