Intevac to acquire Creative Display Systems
SANTA CLARA, Calif., 6 Dec. 2007. Intevac Inc. has signed a definitive asset purchase agreement to acquire Creative Display Systems LLC (CDS), a Carlsbad, Calif., company that specializes in high-performance micro-display products for near-eye and portable applications in defense and commercial markets.

BAE Systems' infrared seeker guides THAAD interceptor to target
KAUAI, Hawaii, 5 Dec. 2007. A Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptor guided by a BAE Systems' infrared seeker directly hit and destroyed an incoming target during a test at the Pacific Missile Range Facility. The test was conducted by the U.S. Missile Defense Agency and Lockheed Martin, the THAAD weapon system's prime contractor and systems integrator.

Hypres, SELEX Communications to develop all-digital receiver for software-defined radio applications
ELMSFORD, N.Y., 5 Dec. 2007. Hypres Inc., a developer of superconductor microelectronics (SME) technology, and the Digital RF product line, has partnered with SELEX Communications, a Finmeccanica company and maker of mission-critical communications, navigation, and identification solutions, to develop an all-digital receiver for the SELEX Communications software-defined radio.

Saab Aerosystems selects Concurrent ImaGen visual servers for Gripen Simulator Program
ATLANTA, 4 Dec. 2007. Concurrent Computer Corporation, a provider of time-critical Linux operating systems, integrated software, and computer solutions for mission-critical applications, announced that its ImaGen visual server powered by RedHawk Linux has been selected by Saab Aerosystems of Sweden as the image generator (IG) of choice, to be recommended for visuals in Saab-built simulators including the Gripen simulator program.

U.S. Marine Corps contracts Arotech's FAAC subsidiary to expand USMC operator driving simulator
ANN ARBOR, Mich., 4 Dec. 2007. Arotech Corp.'s Training and Simulation Division subsidiary, FAAC, has received a contract modification from the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command, Program Manager for Training Systems (PM TRASYS). The order calls for FAAC to expand the capabilities of USMC Operator Driving Simulators (USMC ODS) to include Cougar Category (Cat) I MRAP operations.

Leo Motors Inc. has delivered an advanced working prototype electric multipurpose strategic vehicle/tank to Hyundai Rotem, one of the largest companies in the Korean defense industry. The multipurpose strategic electric vehicle was developed by Leo Motors and Hyundai Rotem using key technology and systems which could be required for next-generation battle field operations.

Rockwell Collins-Cubic team celebrates flight tests of mini-common data link system in unmanned vehicle
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, 3 Dec. 2007. The team of Rockwell Collins and Cubic Defense Applications Inc., a defense unit of Cubic Corp., announced that its new Mini-Common Data Link (CDL) system has been flight tested on a AAI-Aerosonde unmanned aerial system (UAS) platform. This demonstration brings CDL capability to one of the smallest Naval Air Systems Command Tier 2 class platforms and follows flight tests on a King Air aircraft and Killer Bee UAS.

EDO wins $54.4 million contract for F-22 weapon-release system
NEW YORK, 3 Dec. 2007. EDO Corp. won a $54.4 million contract from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company for continued production of its LAU-142/A AMRAAM Vertical Ejection Launcher, or AVEL, for the F-22 Raptor. This latest order covers production lots 7, 8, and 9, plus spares and associated engineering. These production lots will bring the total number of F-22 aircraft to 191, all of which are equipped with the AVEL.

GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms selects Tundra Semiconductor RapidIO Switch
OTTAWA, Ontario, 3 Dec. 2007. GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms has selected Tundra Semiconductor Corp.'s Tundra Tsi578, a high-performance serial RapidIO switch, for its DSP220, DSP230, and CRX800 system blades designed for defense and aerospace applications.
