Royal Thai Air Force selects Cubic Air Combat training technology SAN DIEGO, Calif., 22 Nov. 2007. Cubic Defense Applications, the defense segment of Cubic Corporation, won a contract valued at more than $10 million to develop a new air combat training system for the Royal Thai Air Force. Two Thai air bases will soon join a growing number of U.S. and international installations in the Asia-Pacific region that are using Cubic's "rangeless" air combat training technology to polish the air combat maneuvering skills of military pilots.
CVG wins $1.3 million Florida Army National Guard contracts for satellite communications equipment CHANTILLY, Va., 21 Nov. 2007. CVG Inc. (CVG) won more than $1.3 million worth of contracts from the Florida Army National Guard to provide a variety of satellite-based communications equipment, including the CVG 4200 Emergency Communications Kit (CVG 4200). The work was awarded under CVG's indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity contract with General Services Administration's Satellite Services-II (SATCOM-II) program.
AeroVironment wins $19.3 million BATMAV contract for micro unmanned systems MONROVIA, Calif., 21 Nov. 2007. AeroVironment Inc. (AV), maker of unmanned aircraft systems and electric energy systems, won from the U.S. Marine Corps an order for $19.3 million in Battlefield Air Targeting Micro Air Vehicle (BATMAV) systems, each consisting of two Wasp III micro air vehicles, AV's Advanced Battery Charger, spares, and support services. The order followed a successful Marine Corps evaluation of Wasp systems provided by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
Millennium Cell and Horizon Fuel Cell to launch water-activated power system EATONTOWN, N.J., 21 Nov. 2007. Millennium Cell Inc. and Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies are nearing completion of a beta version of a portable power generator that incorporates a water-activated cartridge system. The product will be a clean and quiet power generator for use by professionals for emergency purposes.
Military small, mini UAVs to proliferate in European markets LONDON, 20 Nov. 2007. Researchers at the Aerospace and Defence Group have studied the European mini-UAV market. The find that whether at command level or with the front line infantryman fighting the "Three Block War," mini-UAVs provide real-time situational awareness on the usually dispersed and complex modern battlefield. "As the European military UAV market takes off, opportunities for smaller systems have proliferated," notes a senior analyst.
ManTech to acquire McDonald Bradley for $76.5 million FAIRFAX, Va., 19 Nov. 2007. ManTech International Corp. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire McDonald Bradley Inc. (MBI) for $76.5 million in cash. MBI is a secure information sharing and IT solutions provider to the federal government with a focus on the Department of Defense (DOD), Intelligence Community, and Homeland Security markets.
CVG wins $6 million defense subcontract to provide satellite communications equipment CHANTILLY, Va., 19 Nov. 2007. CVG Inc. (CVG) has been awarded a subcontract of approximately $6 million from The Centech Group Inc. (CENTECH) to provide integrated satellite-based communications equipment as part of the Replacement Frequency Modulated Order Wire (RFMOW) module for the U.S. Air Force Theatre Deployable Communications suite. The work was awarded under a task order won by Centech in full and open competition on its Air Force Network-Centric Solutions contract vehicle.
United Industrial's AAI subsidiary wins U.S. Army contract to provide improvised explosive device training systems HUNT VALLEY, Md., 19 Nov. 2007. United Industrial Corp.'s AAI Corporation subsidiary has been awarded a $2.3 million contract from the U.S. Army to assist in training the joint and individual services on operational support tasks, conditions, and standards needed to achieve U.S. military objectives to defeat improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
BAE Systems wins $25 million contract to support the U.S. Navy's Pacific Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station ROCKVILLE, Md., 19 Nov. 2007. BAE Systems has won a $25.8 million, four-year recompete contract to provide technical support for the operation and maintenance of the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station, Pacific (NCTMAS PAC) facilities operating on Oahu and other communications sites throughout Hawaii.
Phase Matrix wins Lockheed Martin contract to develop digital oscillator SAN JOSE, Calif., 18 Nov. 2007. Phase Matrix Inc. has been awarded a $700,000 contract by Lockheed Martin Systems Integration-Owego to develop an X/Ku-band digitally tuned oscillator for the U.S. Air Force's B-2 stealth bomber.
