Lockheed Martin SBIRS team delivers major subsystems for second GEO satellite SUNNYVALE, Calif, 23 Dec. 2008. The Lockheed Martin- led team developing the U.S. Air Force's Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS) has achieved major milestones on the second geosynchronous orbit (GEO-2) spacecraft with the completion and delivery of the remaining major spacecraft bus subsystems.
Sierra Nevada Corp. acquires SpaceDev Inc. SPARKS, Nev., 21 Dec. 2008. Sierra Nevada Corp. has completed the acquisition of SpaceDev Inc. SpaceDev has 170+ employees in three locations: Poway, California; Louisville, Colorado; and Durham, North Carolina.
Boeing acquires Digital Receiver Technology ST. LOUIS, 20 Dec. 2008. The Boeing Company has completed its acquisition of Digital Receiver Technology Inc. (DRT), a Germantown, Md.-based company that develops wireless surveillance products for government customers.

Northrop Grumman reveals first Navy unmanned combat aircraft PALMDALE, Calif., 17 Dec. 2008. Northrop Grumman unveiled the first of the U.S. Navy's new unmanned combat aircraft yesterday at a ceremony attended by Navy officials, state and local government representatives, suppliers and Northrop Grumman employees. The new aircraft, designated the X-47B Navy Unmanned Combat Air System (UCAS), is the first of two aircraft Northrop Grumman will produce for the Navy to demonstrate unmanned combat aircraft operations from the deck of an aircraft carrier.
Orbital Sciences chooses EaglePicher to supply lithium-ion batteries for French satellite JOPLIN, Mo., 16 Dec. 2008. Satellite designers at Orbital Sciences Corp. in Dulles, Va., needed lithium-ion batteries for the AMC-21 satellite program developed with Thales Alenia Space of Cannes la Bocca, France. They found their solution from EaglePicher Technologies LLC in Joplin, Mo.
Boeing C-17 Aircrew Training System goes into operation at Dover AFB DOVER AFB, Del., 15 Dec. 2008. The new C-17 Aircrew Training System (ATS) from Boeing went into operation at Dover Air Force Base (AFB), Del., in November four months ahead of schedule. Boeing and U.S. Air Force officials held a ceremony Dec. 5 marking delivery of the system, which provides training to C-17 Globemaster III airlifter crews from Air Mobility Command and Air Force Reserve Command.

German engineers choose SYSGO real-time embedded software for A400M aircraft cargo system DUSSELDORF, Germany, 10 Dec. 2008. Engineers at Rheinmetall Defence AG in Dusseldorf, Germany, needed real-time embedded software for the loadmaster control system they are designing for the Airbus A400M four-engine turboprop military transport and tanker aircraft. They found their solution from SYSGO AG in Klein-Winternheim, Germany.
