Smiths Detection launches SmartBio sensor
EDGEWOOD, Md., 27 June 2008. Smiths Detection, part of the global technology business Smiths Group, has launched SmartBio Sensor (SBS), a real-time detector for biological agents or airborne toxins. SBS provides a visual or audio alarm when a bio-threat is detected and classifies the agent by threat category.

GE Fanuc offers XMC mezzanine card with options for three Xilinx FPGAs
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., 25 June 2008. GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms in Charlottesville, Va., is introducing the XMCV5 high-speed mezzanine card with Xilinx Virtex-5 field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology for ground-mobile, aircraft, and naval applications like radar, sonar, signals intelligence (SIGINT), and image processing.

Microsemi introduces power module for air traffic control S-band radar
IRVINE, Calif., 24 June 2008. Microsemi Corp. in Irvine, Calif., is introducing the 2729-300P power control module for high-power S-band air traffic control radar systems. The device is a 50 ohm matched module with greater than 300 Watts of pulsed RF output power, at a 100-microsecond pulse width and 10 percent duty factor across 2700 to 2900 MHz.

DECATUR, Ga., 22 June 2008. Videolarm in Decatur, Ga., is introducing the IR200-36 infrared illuminator for night video surveillance. The projecting beam angle can be adjusted manually from 30 to 60 degrees with a flathead screwdriver. The IR power setting can be adjusted to reduce hot spots and washouts.

IXYS Colorado unveils high-powered pulsed laser diode driver
FORT COLLINS, Colo., 21 June 2008. IXYS Corp., maker of power semiconductors for power conversion and motion control applications, introduced the PCX-7450 by its Colorado division. The PCX-7450 is an air-cooled, high power pulsed current source designed to drive diode lasers, bars and arrays.
