Rhode Island Airport Police employ Purvis Systems emergency notification solution MIDDLETOWN, R.I., 4 May 2008. Purvis Systems Inc., an IT systems and service provider for public safety, emergency management, and defense industries, announced that its Emergency Notification System (ENS) has been selected for implementation by the Rhode Island Airport Corporation Police at T.F. Green International Airport.
JMAR Technologies commercializes portable laser based on hazard-detection technology developed for U.S. Army SAN DIEGO, 3 May 2008. JMAR Technologies Inc., a developer of advanced laser, photonics, and detection products, has unveiled the first commercial prototype of its double-pulse laser system. The prototype is a shoebox-sized portable system based on JMAR's proprietary BriteLight system, and developed by JMAR in response to a U.S. Army issued SBIR grant to support research for remote detection of hazardous materials, drugs, and other biological or chemical substances.
ITT to produce protection systems for U.S. Special Operations helicopters WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., 2 May 2008. ITT has been awarded a $57.2 million firm-fixed-price contract for Full Rate Production of the AN/ALQ-211(V)6, from the U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) Technology Applications Program Office as part of a $312M IDIQ production contract. This critical situational awareness and self-protection system will be installed on Special Operations Aviation (SOA) MH-47.
Kopin wins NASA solar cell development contract TAUNTON, Mass., 2 May 2008. Kopin Corp., a provider of heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) wafers for cellular phones and wireless local area networks, has won a $600,000 solar cell development contract from NASA. The contract is the second phase of a Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program to develop indium nitride (InN)-based quantum dot solar cell technology. Kopin's partners on this NASA STTR project include groups at Virginia Tech and Magnolia Optical Technologies.
General Dynamics, Elbit Systems of America demonstrate unmanned aerial system for U.S. armed forces CHARLOTTE, N.C., 1 May 2008. General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products and Elbit Systems of America LLC, conducted the first U.S. demonstration of the Skylark II Small Tactical/Tier II-class unmanned aerial system (UAS) for representatives of the U.S. armed forces. The event was held at Redstone Arsenal, Ala.
General Dynamics, Cisco Systems infuse GoBook with communications software for battlefield networking TAUNTON, Mass., 1 May 2008. General Dynamics C4 Systems and teammate Cisco Systems have integrated Cisco's Unified Communications Manager software into the General Dynamics Itronix GoBook XR-1 computer. This move will allow current and future users of the Army's Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) to access communication services such as telephony, email, voice, and text messaging via a fully ruggedized, small-footprint notebook computer.
American Science and Engineering gains $14.3 million service, maintenance order for ZBVs BILLERICA, Mass., 30 April 2008. American Science and Engineering Inc. (AS&E), maker of x-ray detection technology, won a $14.3 million order from the U.S. government for service, support, and spare parts for Z Backscatter Vans (ZBV). AS&E was awarded the initial Base year of the contract in September of 2006 valued at $11 million and was awarded Option year one of the contract in March 2007, valued at $17.5 million.
SEMI suggests semiconductor market losing $4 billion annually to IP infrigement SAN JOSE, Calif., 30 April 2008. Semiconductor equipment and materials suppliers face serious and mounting challenges in intellectual property (IP) protection, with adverse economic consequences for the entire microelectronics industry, according to a new white paper published by SEMI.
ITT Selects DataPath's MaxView network-management system for U.S. Army Ka-STARS program DULUTH, Ga., 29 April 2008. ITT Corporation has selected DataPath Inc., a provider of satellite and wireless communications networks, to provide the MaxView network-management system for managing and automating the nine-meter AN/GSC-70(V)1 Ka Band Satellite Transmit and Receive Systems (Ka-STARS) under contract to the U.S. Army Program Manager, Defense Communications and Army Transmission Systems (PM-DCATS).
AAI Services contracts Lockheed Martin to dvelop F-35 Lightning II trainer HUNT VALLEY, Md., 29 April 2008. AAI Services, a subsidiary of AAI Corp.--an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. company--has received a competitive award from Lockheed Martin to design and develop the aircraft systems maintenance trainer (ASMT) in support of the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter.
