The Strategy Analytics RF & Wireless Component Strategies report, "RF Analog Mixed-Signal Gains Importance as Semiconductor Design IP Growth Slows," notes that the semiconductor design IP (intellectual property) sector grew to $1.5 billion in revenue in 2007, up approximately 11 percent over 2006, but a slower growth than in previous years.
AML Communications wins $1 million order from Raytheon CAMARILLO, Calif., 27 March 2008. AML Communications Inc. has received a $1 million order from the Raytheon Company covering the procurement of long lead-time material to support high-volume manufacturing to follow. Upon conclusion of the material purchase phase, a follow-up order of an additional $1 Million is expected. This order is the beginning of volume production for a five-year program with a value of $30 million if all options are exercised.

European Union employs software-defined radio technology for wireless public safety communications BURNABY, British Columbia, 26 March 2008. Spectrum Signal Processing by Vecima, a provider of software-defined radio (SDR) technology, announced that the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC) Sensors Radar Technologies and Cyber Security Unit (SERAC) will use Spectrum's flexComm Waveform Design Studio for the research and development of software-defined radio capability in the Wireless Interoperability for Security (WINTSEC) project.

Smiths Detection to supply U.S. military with next-generation chemical agent detector EDGEWOOD, Md., 25 March 2008. Smiths Detection, part of the global technology business Smiths Group, announced that its Military unit has been awarded a $23.8 million contract option to supply the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) with lightweight detectors under its Joint Chemical Agent Detector (JCAD) program, potentially the biggest of its kind in the world.
Barco Federal Systems selected for U.S. Navy Common Display System Remote Displays program WASHINGTON, 25 March 2008. Barco Federal Systems (BFS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Barco, will provide rugged display technology for the Common Display System (CDS) Remote Displays program of the U.S. Navy. BFS was selected by prime contractor DRS C3 Systems LLC in Gaithersburg, Md.
General Dynamics selects ICx Technologies for radar system for robots WASHINGTON, 24 March 2008. ICx Technologies, a developer of advanced sensor technologies for homeland security, force protection, and commercial applications, has secured from General Dynamics Robotic Systems a multi-year, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) follow-on contract for the Mobile Detection Assessment and Response System (MDARS) Intruder Detection Radar Sensor.
L-3 WESCAM to deliver EO/IR imaging sensors to U.S. Navy BURLINGTON, Ontario, 24 March 2008. L-3 WESCAM, a wholly owned subsidiary of L-3 Communications, has been selected by Boeing Integrated Defense Systems to supply the digital electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) imaging sensors for the U.S. Navy's P-8A Poseidon program. The order includes four MX-20 True HD (MX-20HD) EO/IR imaging turrets, with deliveries scheduled for mid-2008.
Homeland Integrated Security Systems to acquire Global Tracking Technologies ARDEN, N.C., 23 March 2008. Homeland Integrated Security Systems Inc. has signed a Letter of Intent to acquire Global Tracking Technologies, LLC of Tampa, Fla., for stock and other considerations. The parties have agreed that initial due diligence will be completed by April 12, 2008, with a formal agreement expected to be signed within two weeks of the completion of the initial due diligence.
