NASA, Google expand relationship with 40-year agreement
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., 5 June 2008. NASA and Google Inc. will develop a high-technology campus at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, Calif. Under the terms of the 40-year agreement, Google will lease 42.2 acres of unimproved land in NASA Research Park at Ames to construct up to 1.2 million square feet of offices and research and development facilities.

PARC to develop sensor tape technology to track exposure to explosive blasts
PALO ALTO, Calif., 4 June 2008. Palo Alto Research Center Inc. (PARC), a Xerox Corp. company, has been selected by the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to develop and prototype, all-printed, disposable, blast dosimeters. This technology is a flexible, wearable, electronic "tape" that contains sensors to record data associated with exposure to explosive blasts in the battlefield.

FLIR Systems gains $111 million in delivery orders from U.S. Army
PORTLAND, Ore., 3 June 2008. FLIR Systems Inc. has received delivery orders totaling $111.7 million from the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command in Huntsville, Ala., for its Star SAFIRE III stabilized multisensor systems. Work on the delivery orders will begin immediately and be completed within the next 12 months in FLIR's Portland, Ore., facility.

ND SatCom to deliver portable satcom terminals to U.S. Navy SPAWAR
BETZDORF, Luxembourg; 3 June 2008. SES ASTRA's subsidiary ND SatCom has been selected as a prime contractor for the U.S. Department of the Navy, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR) in Charleston, S.C. ND SatCom will deliver multiple portable satellite communication (satcom) terminals to the U.S. Navy.

U.S. Army awards contract to Kongsberg for CROWS II delivery
WASHINGTON, 1 June 2008. Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS won a $117 million contract from the U.S. Army for the delivery of additional Protector Remote Weapon Stations (RWS). This order is part of the $1.4 billion Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS II) framework agreement signed in August 2007. Deliveries will begin in the third quarter of FY09.

Finmeccanica to acquire DRS for $5.2 billion (euro 3.4 billion)
ROME and PARSIPPANY, N.J., 31 May 2008. Finmeccanica, S.p.A. and DRS Technologies, Inc., announced earlier this month that they have signed a definitive merger agreement under which Finmeccanica will acquire 100 percent of DRS stock for U.S. $81 per share in cash.

Raytheon demonstrates new JSOW Seeker for interdicting moving maritime targets
TUCSON, Ariz., 30 May 2008. Raytheon's AGM-154 Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW) C1 variant moved a step closer to free-flight this Spring following successful captive flight tests of the weapon's new infrared camera seeker system.
