Non RoHS lead solder reballing certification with optical inspection available from ISI
CAMARILLO, Calif., 19 Aug. 2009. Interconnect Systems Inc. (ISI) in Camarillo, Calif., is offering a process of removing lead free solder spheres then attaching tin-lead (Sn63Pb37) eutectic lead solder spheres that has been qualified by commercial, industrial, military, and aerospace companies, ISI officials say.

Military circuit card contract for Air Force aircraft and avionics goes to Honeywell

Rockwell Collins' flight controls used in multiple UAVs this summer
WASHINGTON, 17 Aug, 2009. – The Athena 511 flight control and navigation systems from Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, landed in two unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platforms this summer – the Excalibur UAV from Aurora Flight Sciences in Manassas, Va., and the CQ-10A SnowGoose Cargo UAV from Mist Mobility Integrated Systems Technology (MMIST) in Ottawa, Ontario.

Thermacore acquires k Technology
LANCASTER, Pa., 15 Aug. 2009. Thermacore Inc. has acquired k Technology, a business headquartered in Langhorne, Pa., that designs and manufactures custom thermal management products for power electronics cooling. K Technology's products are used in aerospace satellites and military aircraft, such as the F-35, F-22, and F-16 fighter planes. With the acquisition, k Technology becomes an independent division within Thermacore's corporate structure.

GE Aerospace, FAA, to study how to integrate UAVs into U.S. national air space
WASHINGTON, 11 Aug. 2009. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Washington is joining hands with GE Aviation in Grand Rapids, Mich., to use flight simulation and other research tools to study how to enable manned and unmanned aircraft to share commercial airspace.

Boeing to demonstrate cargo UAV for U.S. Marine Corps
ST. LOUIS, 10 Aug. 2009. Boeing [NYSE: BA] won a $500,000 contract from the U.S. Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory last week to demonstrate the company's A160T (YMQ-18A) Hummingbird unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for the Marines' Immediate Cargo Unmanned Aerial System Demonstration Program.
