U.S. Navy officials are awarding contracts to two RF power specialists to provide RF power amplifier technology for the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) AN/USC-61(C) Digital Modular Radio (DMR) military RF system.
DRS acquires Soneticom to boost ISR, electronic warfare, and COMINT capabilities PARSIPPANY, N.J., 20 Sept. 2009. Military reconnaissance expert DRS Technologies Inc. in Parsippany, N.J., has acquired Soneticom Inc. in Melbourne, Fla., to enhance DRS's expertise in electronic warfare, communications intelligence (COMINT) and intelligence-surveillance-reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, company officials say.
General Dynamics demonstrates roll-controlled guided mortar with GPS for mil apps ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., 19 Sept. 2009. General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems has developed and tested a new approach for low-cost guided mortars: the 120mm Roll-Controlled Guided Mortar (RCGM). Under a cooperative research-and-development agreement with the U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, Picatinny Arsenal, N.J., General Dynamics tube-launched and guided RCGM prototypes from a M120 120mm mortar weapon system at the U.S. Army Yuma Proving Grounds.

Special Operations Command awards $250 million contract for Expeditionary Unmanned Aircraft System (EUAS) MacDILL AFB, Fla., 13 Sept. 2009. Officials of the U.S. Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., are awarding a $250 million contract to L-3 Communications Geneva Aerospace of Carrollton, Texas, to develop and build the Expeditionary Unmanned Aircraft System (EUAS).
