SIGINT CPU board for embedded systems ordered by Northrop Grumman from GE Fanuc
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., 12 Sept. 2009. Signals intelligence (SIGINT) systems designers at the Northrop Grumman Corp. Information Systems sector in Reston, Va., needed computer boards for SIGINT and intelligence-surveillance-reconnaissance (ISR) signal processing. They found their solution from GE Fanuc Intelligence Platforms in Charlottesville, Va.

U.K. Ministry of Defense orders helmet-mounted display system BAE Systems
LONDON, 11 Sept. 2009. Officials at the U.K. Ministry of Defense (MOD) placed the first order for a new generation of helmet-mounted displays developed by BAE Systems. The Royal navy will purchase 12 remote sighting systems incorporating BAE Systems' Q-Sight display, for its Lynx Mk8 helicopters. BAE Systems officials made the announcement this week at DSEi 2009, the Defense Systems and Equipment International Exhibition in London.

Satellite electronics to be provided by contract manufacturer Sypris Electronics
TAMPA, Fla., 11 Sept. 2009. Electronics contract manufacturer Sypris Electronics LLC in Tampa, Fla., won contracts from prime defense contractors worth $5.5 million in follow-on orders to produce satellite electronics assemblies for several satellite systems.

Signal processing data converter board for electronic warfare applications offered by Pentek
UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J., 10 Sept. 2009. Pentek Inc. in Upper Saddle River, N.J., is introducing the Model 7158 data converter PMC card/XMC transceiver module for high-speed, wideband and electronic warfare applications such as remote radar countermeasures, tracking, and UAV surveillance.

Military night vision goggles provided to British military by ITT under $16.6 million contract
LONDON, 9 Sept. 2009. Officials of the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence (MOD) in London needed night vision goggles for the British armed forces for night battle. They found their solution from ITT Night Vision in Roanoke, Va. The MOD awarded a $16.6 million night vision order to ITT for the Head Mounted Night Vision System (HMNVS) -- a follow-on order to the $23 million contract awarded to ITT in August 2008.

FPGA-based signal processing DSP board in VPX form factor introduced by BittWare
LONDON, 9 Sept. 2009. BittWare Inc. in Concord, N.H., is introducing the GT3X FPGA-based signal processing DSP board in VPX form factor for rugged systems in military, aerospace, communications, and instrumentation applications. The company made the announcement this week at the Defence Systems & Equipment International (DSEi) trade show in London.

Electro-optical infrared sensor for armored vehicle night vision is aim of BAE contract
AUSTIN, Texas, 8 Sept., 2009. Leaders of the U.S. Army and Marine Corps needed electro-optical infrared sensor technology for armored vehicle night vision and other enhanced vision applications. They found their solution from the BAE Systems Electronics & Integrated Solutions (E&IS) Group in Austin, Texas.

Air traffic control upgrade in Europe is aim of Northrop Grumman contract
OSLO, Norway, 6 Sept. 2009. Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems Ltd. in Oslo, Norway -- as one of the four member companies forming the North European Air Traffic Management Industry Group (NATMIG) -- has been awarded funding from the European Community and EUROCONTROL to participate in a research program to streamline and modernize air traffic control (ATC) in Europe.

Moog announces intention to acquire GE Aviation
EAST AURORA, N.Y., 5 Sept. 2009. Moog Inc. is in discussions with GE Aviation Systems, an operating unit of General Electric Company (GE), to purchase its flight control actuation product line located in Wolverhampton, U.K. GE acquired this business with Smiths Aerospace in May 2007.
