U.S. Army invests $8.2 million in TCS SNAP deployable satellite systems ANNAPOLIS, Md., 9 Sept. 2009. TeleCommunication Systems Inc. (TCS), a provider of mission-critical wireless communications, won $8.2 million in funding from the U.S. Army to provide additional Secret Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) and Non-secure Internet Protocol Router (NIPR) Access Point (SNAP) Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) satellite systems.

A SkyLine automated air traffic management (ATM) system supplied by Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] has gone into full operation at the Aktobe Area Control Center (ACC) and three remote towers in Kazakhstan.
Ballistic missile fire control submarine systems to be integrated by Electric Boat GROTON, Conn., 6 Sept. 2009. Submarine systems experts at General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, Conn., will integrate the fire control systems on the U.S. Navy Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine under terms of a $31 million maintenance and modernization contract awarded late last week from the Navy Strategic Systems program.

The last in a series of eight modernized global positioning system IIR (GPS IIR-M) satellites built by Lockheed Martin has been declared operational by the U.S. Air Force for military and civilian navigation users around the world.
U.K. Ministry of Defense connects bases in Afghanistan with RADWIN wireless broadband systems TEL-AVIV, Israel, 4 Sept. 2009. The Ministry of Defense (MOD) in the U.K. has selected wireless broadband systems from RADWIN for the mission-critical task of establishing voice and data communications between military bases in Afghanistan. High-capacity RADWIN 2000 links enhance the satellite system, which had become overloaded and couldn't handle the amount of traffic and provide the level of service required, says a representative.
GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms wins $2.25 million Lockheed Martin orders for COTS defense systems CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., 4 Sept. 2009. GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, a unit of GE Enterprise Solutions, has secured $2.25 million in orders from Lockheed Martin's facility in Eagan, Minn. The orders call for quantities of GE Fanuc's VME-7809 VMEbus single-board computer and NETernity RM921 Ethernet switches for deployment in the Lockheed Martin AN/UYQ-70 C4 (command, control, communications and computer) system.
OSI Geospatial to deliver counter-IED training solution to Defence Research and Development Canada OTTAWA, Ontario, 3 Sept. 2009. OSI Geospatial won a contract valued at roughly $600,000 with Defence Research and Development Canada, an agency of the Canadian Department of National Defense. Under the terms of this contract, the company will deliver a prototype Counter-Improvised Explosive Device Immersive Training Environment system using OSI's iGEN Cognitive Synthetic Agents that will assist Canadian Forces to recognize, react to and defeat situations where an IED danger exists.
FLIR Systems gains $4.9 million Colombian military order for electro-optics PORTLAND, Ore., 3 Sept. 2009. FLIR Systems Inc. won a $4.9 million U.S. Government Foreign Military Sale order for the Colombian Army and Air Force. The order includes FLIRs Star SAFIRE III infrared multi-sensor surveillance systems, training, and related services. The units delivered under this award will be installed on Rotary Wing Surveillance and Tactical Platforms in support of Colombian Ministry of Defense airborne day and night counter-narcotic and counter-insurgency missions.
Raytheon wins $27 million to support Taiwan Patriot Systems upgrades TEWKSBURY, Mass., 2 Sept. 2009. Raytheon Company won $26.9 million to provide technical assistance in support of Taiwan's Patriot Air and Missile Defense System. The award, a modification to a technical assistance contract awarded in 2008 from the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, provides additional funding for in-country support as a result of the ahead-of-schedule completion of Configuration-3 upgrades.
