Global Telecom & Technology to strengthen DOD networks
MCLEAN, Va., 1 Oct. 2009. Global Telecom & Technology Inc. (GTT), a global network integrator, announced that the Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization (DITCO), the contracting arm of the Department of Defense (DOD)'s Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), has purchased point-to-point connectivity services from GTT to support its internal network infrastructure.

Tektronix to supply digital phosphor oscilloscopes to U.S. Navy
BEAVERTON, Ore., 30 Sept. 2009. Tektronix Inc., a worldwide provider of test, measurement, and monitoring instrumentation, won a contract award to supply Digital Phosphor Oscilloscopes (DPOs) to the U.S. Navy. The $10.75 million contract has a Best Estimated Quantity (BEQ) of 5000 units over a five-year period.

EMS Technologies demonstrates low-profile X-band antenna over Paradigm's Skynet 5C satellite
ATLANTA, 30 Sept. 2009. EMS Defense & Space (D&S), a division of EMS Technologies Inc., has demonstrated high data-rate transmission of its new X-band satellite terminal over the U.K. military communications Skynet 5C satellite.

Raytheon completes flight testing of Air Force radio communications, intelligence system
FALLS CHURCH, Va., 29 Sept. 2009. Raytheon Company has established initial operational capability and has conducted flight tests for a key communications component for the U.S. Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS).

SAIC wins $49 million order from U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center
SAN DIEGO, 29 Sept. 2009. Science Applications International Corp. won a delivery order by the U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) to provide technical analysis and risk assessments in support of SMC's Independent Readiness Review Team (IRRT). The delivery order has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a total value of more than $49 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in El Segundo, Calif.

FAA approves 1st U.S. Ground Based Augmentation System
WASHINGTON, 28 Sept. 2009 The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced the approval of Honeywell's Smartpath Precision Landing System, clearing the way for increased safety and efficiency at airports by providing precise navigation service based on the global positioning system (GPS). The first U.S.-approved system is located in Memphis, Tenn., and will become operational early next year.

Electronic warfare and electro-optical aircraft self-protection system job goes to ATK, Lockheed Martin
PATUXENT RIVER NAS, Md., 27 Sept. 2009. Two U.S. defense contractors are moving ahead with a project to develop a next-generation electronic warfare and electro-optical aircraft self-protection system for Navy and Marine Corps helicopters and other aircraft called the Joint and Allied Threat Awareness System (JATAS), which provides pilots missile warning, laser warning, and ground fire protection from other threats.

EF Johnson Technologies Inc. wins $1.1 million from U.S. Department of Defense in support of wireless, radio communications solution
IRVING, Texas, 26 Sept. 2009. EF Johnson Technologies Inc. won an order from the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) for $1.1 million to provide a maritime wireless solution for the customer. The company's wireless technology delivers radio communications, as well as video and data transmissions.

AAI flies Shadow at opening of U.S. Army Unmanned Aircraft System Rapid Integration and Acceptance Center
HUNT VALLEY, Md., 25 Sept. 2009. AAI Corp., an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. company, has flown its Shadow Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System in honor of the official opening of the U.S. Army Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Project Office Rapid Integration and Acceptance Center (RIAC) at Dugway Proving Ground in Utah.

Masten Space VTVL rocket uses COTS, achieves first untethered flights
MOJAVE, Calif., 24 Sept. 2009. Masten Space Systems engineers have demonstrated multiple sustained free flights of its XA-0.1B vertical take-off, vertical landing (VTVL) rocket. The longest flight spanned 93 seconds and took place between two pads 60 meters apart -- marking the first time a purely rocket-powered VTVL has flown from Mojave Air and Space Port.
