SAIC supports Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic
SAN DIEGO, 31 July 2009. Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) won a prime contract from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic (SPAWARSYSCEN Atlantic) to provide command and control integration support to the Department of Defense (DoD) and federal agencies. The multiple award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a one-year base period of performance and four one-year options, with a total value of more than $196 million.

SpaceX Falcon 9 inches closer to transporting humans
MCGREGOR, Texas, 31 July 2009. Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) has completed qualification testing for the Falcon 9 launch vehicle first stage tank and interstage. Testing took place at SpaceX's Texas Test Site, a 300-acre structural and propulsion testing facility, located just outside of Waco, Texas.

ITT imager aboard NASA/NOAA GOES-14 satellite takes full-disk image
GREENBELT, Md., 30 July 2009. The latest Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-14) provided its first visible full-disk image of Earth on July 27. The prime instrument on GOES, called the Imager, is taking images of Earth with a 1-kilometer (km) or 0.62-mile resolution from an altitude of 36,000 km (22,240 miles) above Earth's surface, equivalent to taking a picture of a dime from a distance of seven football fields.

Lockheed Martin unveils U.S. Navy stealth fighter
FORT WORTH, Texas, 30 July 2009. Engineers at Lockheed Martin's Fort Worth plant rolled out the U.S. Navy's first-ever stealth fighter, the F-35C Lightning II. The aircraft will enable the Navy to possess 5th generation fighter capabilities at sea, extending America's reach and reducing the time line from threat to response, says a company representative.

Herley New England to provide integrated microwave assemblies for U. S. electronic attack aircraft
LANCASTER, Pa., 29 July 2009. Herley Industries Inc.'s Herley New England division in Woburn, Mass., won a $16.4 million award from a major U.S. prime contractor to manufacture a variety of multifunction integrated microwave assemblies (IMAs) for a U.S. Navy electronic attack aircraft.

Jim Robles of Boeing leads VPX webcast today at 3 pm est
NASHUA, N.H., 29 July 2009. Jim Robles, senior technical fellow at Boeing in Seattle, leads a webcast titled "The VPX Standard and Its Use in Military Applications" today at 3 p.m. EST. 21st Century Technologies wins cyber security contract with U.S. Air Force
AUSTIN, Texas, 29 July 2009. 21st Century Technologies (21CT), maker of advanced intelligence analytics solutions to combat terrorist threats and cyber attacks, won a three-year G-NET II contract by Air Force Research Lab's Rome, N.Y. directorate. It will be managed by the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) ACO Information Operations Threat Analysis Flight.

U.S. Navy employs Raytheon technology aboard NASA Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., 28 July 2009. Sensing technology developed by Raytheon Company for the U.S. Navy's miniaturized radio-frequency system has begun a one-year mission to determine whether the polar regions of the moon contain ice. Under contract to the U.S. Navy, Raytheon provided the antenna, transmitter, analog receiver, and software for the system.

Raytheon Ground Soldier Ensemble achieves initial program milestones
MCKINNEY, Texas, 28 July 2009. Raytheon Company's Ground Soldier Ensemble team completed two major program milestones and is moving to demonstrate networked tactical situational awareness and digital communications capabilities for the dismounted warfighter. Raytheon's GSE team delivered to the U.S. Army the first open frame hardware on schedule in June, and earlier that month, held its first preliminary design review, reveals a representative.

Lockheed Martin wins Arrowhead production contract
ORLANDO, Fla., 27 July 2009. The U.S. Army awarded Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] a $142 million follow-on production contract for the Apache Arrowhead® system – the Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor (M-TADS/PNVS) for the AH-64D Apache attack helicopter.
