Northrop Grumman Corp. will develop the software architecture for the Virtual Integrated Support for Information Operations eNvironment (VisIOn) system, which will provide situational awareness and mission planning capabilities for information operations across all U.S. military commands.

Next-generation missile defense radar systems for Navy warships is goal of new study contracts

Boeing ships next-generation GPS satellite to Cape Canaveral for tests
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., 27 June 2009. Boeing has shipped a Global Positioning System (GPS) IIF satellite to Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida to conduct a series of tests for the U.S. Air Force's next-generation satellite navigation system. Built at Boeing's El Segundo satellite factory, Space Vehicle 2 (SV-2) is undergoing ground testing to prepare for the launch of SV-1, the first of 12 GPS IIF satellites, reveals a representative.

NovAtel wins U.S. Federal Aviation Administration WAAS receiver contract
CALGARY, Alberta, 26 June 2009. NovAtel Inc., a manufacturer of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) precise positioning technology, won a contract by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to develop the next-generation Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) reference receiver (the GIII receiver). The total value of the contract is worth up to $9.7 million U.S.

Oshkosh Defense to supply HEMTT A4s to U.S. Army Reserve
OSHKOSH, Wis., 26 June 2009. Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corp., won a delivery order from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) to supply more than 30 next-generation Oshkosh Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTT) to the U.S. Army Reserve.

Citrix provides General Dynamics, WIN-T Increment 1 with satellite bandwidth optimization tools
BETHESDA, Md., 25 June 2009. Citrix Systems Inc. has supplied General Dynamics with more than 1,500 Citrix WANScaler units to help optimize satellite bandwidth for the U.S. Army and its WIN-T (Warfighter Information Network-Tactical) initiative. WIN-T is the Army's on-the-move, high-speed, high-capacity backbone communications network that links warfighters on the battlefield with the Global Information Grid (GIG).

Government Programs offer funds to buy IPG Photonics fiber lasers
OXFORD, Mass., 25 June 2009. IPG Photonics Corp., maker of high-power fiber lasers and amplifiers, announced the availability of government programs that provide financial incentives for customers to purchase fiber lasers. Fiber lasers, which are considered to be more energy-efficient than conventional YAG and CO2 gas lasers, are well suited for the new financial assistance programs which promote the deployment of energy-efficient technologies.

Raytheon wins $154.8 million Phalanx weapon system overhaul, conversion contract
CALGARY, Alberta, 24 June 2009. Raytheon Company won a $154.8 million contract from the Canadian Navy to conduct 30 sets of overhauls and convert 21 Phalanx close-in weapon systems. According to the contract, Raytheon engineers will convert the Phalanx Block 1B Baseline 0 to a Baseline 1 configuration and provide repair services and spares, as well as additional engineering and technical support.

Augusta Systems wins Navy contract for intelligent network
MORGANTOWN, W.Va., 24 June 2009. Augusta Systems Inc. won from the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) a $1.3 million contract to test and enhance a distributed, intelligent network capable of managing single and multiple "swarms" of unmanned air, ground, and sea vehicles, unattended ground sensors, video cameras, and other devices.
