EF Johnson Technologies Inc. wins order for $700,00 from U.S. Navy IRVING, Texas, 18 June 2009. EF Johnson Technologies Inc.'s 3e Technologies International Inc. subsidiary has received a new order valued at $700,000 to provide the U.S. Navy with virtual perimeter monitoring systems (VPMS) for deployment in airports in the United States.
UAVs a prime area of acquisition interest for aerospace contractors PARIS, 17 June 2009. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) represent a prime area of acquisition interest for major aerospace contractors, Teal analysts report in their latest integrated market analysis. Teal Group's 2009 market study estimates that UAV expenditures will double within a decade from $4.4 billion annually to $8.7 billion, with more than $62 billion spent over the next 10 years. The U.S. will account for 72 percent of worldwide spending on UAV technology over the next decade.
Merix wins multimillion-dollar order from Rockwell Collins BEAVERTON, Ore., 17 june 2009. Merix Corp., a provider of high-reliability printed circuit boards (PCBs), won a multimillion dollar order from global avionics and communications pioneer Rockwell Collins. The order strengthens the company's focus on the defense and aerospace sector, where the company has broadened its product offering and grown its market share in the past 14 months.
Lockheed Martin develops airborne lab to test C4ISR capabilities PARIS, 16 June 2009. Lockheed Martin developed an Airborne Multi-INT Laboratory (AML), to be used for operational testing and experimentation of C4ISR capabilities. The AML provides a platform for advanced research and realistic testing and demonstration of emerging intelligence, communications, networking, and sensors capabilities that can improve strategic and tactical responsiveness for military, strategic, and homeland security forces.
Boeing Advanced Tactical Laser fires high-power laser in flight ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., 16 June 2009. The Boeing Company and the U.S. Air Force on June 13 fired the high-power laser aboard the Advanced Tactical Laser (ATL) aircraft for the first time in flight. ATL took off from Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., and fired its laser over White Sands Missile Range, N.M., hitting a target board on the ground. ATL, which Boeing is developing, is a C-130H aircraft equipped with a chemical laser, a beam control system, sensors, and weapon-system consoles.
Boeing creates Unmanned Airborne Systems division PARIS, France, 15 June 2009. Boeing today announced the formation of an Unmanned Airborne Systems (UAS) division within its defense and space business unit.

Proposed U.S. defense spending next year is insufficient over the long term to maintain military readiness in weapon systems, training, and personnel, says a defense analysts at the Brookings Institution think tank in Washington.
Raytheon tests upgraded laser-guided Maverick missile components PARIS, 13 June 2009. Engineers at Raytheon Company are testing key components to be used in the AGM-65E2, the newest variant of the U.S. Air Force's laser-guided Maverick missile. The laser-guided Maverick missile is a direct-attack, air-to-ground precision munition used extensively by the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps in ongoing combat operations.
EADS North America selects team to outfit UH-72A Lakota for security, support missions ARLINGTON, Va., 12 June 2009. EADS North America and its subsidiary, American Eurocopter, have selected the industry team that will provide components and sub-systems for the UH-72A Lakota Light Utility Helicopter Security and Support (S&S) mission equipment package (MEP). The UH-72A in the S&S configuration will provide Army National Guard units the flexibility to respond to a variety of homeland security, homeland defense, and civil law enforcement support missions.
Northrop Grumman wins support contract for integrated platform management systems in U.K. MoD's Type 45 Destroyers LONDON, 12 June 2009. Northrop Grumman Corp. won a contract to provide technical support services for the integrated platform management systems (IPMS) installed in the Royal Navy's new Type 45 destroyers.
