Oshkosh Defense to supply HEMTT A4s to U.S. Army Reserve OSHKOSH, Wis., 26 June 2009. Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corp., won a delivery order from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) to supply more than 30 next-generation Oshkosh Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTT) to the U.S. Army Reserve.
Citrix provides General Dynamics, WIN-T Increment 1 with satellite bandwidth optimization tools BETHESDA, Md., 25 June 2009. Citrix Systems Inc. has supplied General Dynamics with more than 1,500 Citrix WANScaler units to help optimize satellite bandwidth for the U.S. Army and its WIN-T (Warfighter Information Network-Tactical) initiative. WIN-T is the Army's on-the-move, high-speed, high-capacity backbone communications network that links warfighters on the battlefield with the Global Information Grid (GIG).
Government Programs offer funds to buy IPG Photonics fiber lasers OXFORD, Mass., 25 June 2009. IPG Photonics Corp., maker of high-power fiber lasers and amplifiers, announced the availability of government programs that provide financial incentives for customers to purchase fiber lasers. Fiber lasers, which are considered to be more energy-efficient than conventional YAG and CO2 gas lasers, are well suited for the new financial assistance programs which promote the deployment of energy-efficient technologies.
Raytheon wins $154.8 million Phalanx weapon system overhaul, conversion contract CALGARY, Alberta, 24 June 2009. Raytheon Company won a $154.8 million contract from the Canadian Navy to conduct 30 sets of overhauls and convert 21 Phalanx close-in weapon systems. According to the contract, Raytheon engineers will convert the Phalanx Block 1B Baseline 0 to a Baseline 1 configuration and provide repair services and spares, as well as additional engineering and technical support.
Augusta Systems wins Navy contract for intelligent network MORGANTOWN, W.Va., 24 June 2009. Augusta Systems Inc. won from the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) a $1.3 million contract to test and enhance a distributed, intelligent network capable of managing single and multiple "swarms" of unmanned air, ground, and sea vehicles, unattended ground sensors, video cameras, and other devices.
BAE Systems computer powers NASA missions to the moon, Mars MANASSAS, Va., 23 June 2009. A BAE Systems computer is at the core of a strategic NASA mission for space exploration, says a company representative. The company's RAD750 microprocessor powers NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and the Lunar CRater Observation and Sensing Satellite as the spacecraft surveys the moon's environment.
Communications & Power Industries wins $1.7 million to equip multinational organization with high-power amplifiers PALO ALTO, Calif., 23 June 2009. Communications & Power Industries Inc. (CPI) won a roughly $1.7 million initial contract from Globecomm Systems Inc. to support a multinational defense organization. Under the contract, CPI will supply high-power, X-band communications amplifiers for new and upgraded satellite ground terminals.
Aerojet provides solutions in support of NASA's lunar exploration missions SACRAMENTO, Calif., 21 June 2009. Aerojet, a GenCorp company, announced the launch of an Atlas V rocket carrying NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) spacecraft and the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Spacecraft. Aerojet engineers delivered 12 small monopropellant hydrazine thrusters, used aboard the Atlas Centaur upper stage; eight retro rockets for the Atlas Centaur separation from the launch vehicle; and an additional eight monopropellant thrusters aboard the LRO spacecraft.
Puma miniature UAV lands on water and ground for Special Forces applications PARIS, 20 June 2009. Officials from AeroVironment were showcasing their Puma AE (all environment) miniature unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) at the Paris Air Show this week. The hand-launched uses custom electro-optics to track targets.
ATK engineering services, products aid in LRO Mission MINNEAPOLIS, 20 June 2009. Alliant Techsystems assisted in the launch of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO)/Lunar CRater Observation Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) mission from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. The company not only provided engineering services and various systems and structures for the LRO spacecraft, but also will support the mission team post-launch.
