NORAD to test aircraft laser warning system this week around Washington, D.C. area WASHINGTON, 17 May 2009. Officials of the U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) will test a ground-based laser warning system around the nation's capital this week that is designed to keep unauthorized aircraft pilots from violating restricted air space around the White House and other sensitive government buildings.
Elbit Systems U.S. subsidiary to provide Mortar Fire Control Systems Integration to U.S Army HAIFA, Israel, 16 May 2009. Elbit Systems Ltd.'s wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, Elbit Systems of America, won a contract from the U.S. Army for the Mortar Fire Control (MFC) Systems Integration program. The contract is a hybrid indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity-time and materials (ID/IQ-T&M) contract, which provides for orders up to $197.5 million amount over a five-year period.
Raytheon wins $19.8 million contract to produce towed decoys GOLETA, Calif., 15 May 2009. Raytheon Company won a $19.8 million contract for continued production of its ALE-50 line of towed decoys. The award by the U.S. Air Force Warner Robins Air Logistics Center represents the 13th production lot of ALE-50 decoys, which are used by the U.S. Navy and Air Force, reveals a company representative. The contract calls for the delivery of 807 decoys for the Air Force through April 2011.
CACI to support lifecycle management, software acquisition for U.S. Army ARLINGTON, Va., 15 May 2009. CACI International Inc. won a task order of $38 million under the U.S. Army's Strategic Services Sourcing (S3) contract vehicle. The award, for one base year and two option years, supports the Army's Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC), Software Engineering Center (SEC), in Ft. Monmouth, N.J.
U.S. Army soldiers reach milestone, gain mobile networking using General Dynamics' Warfighter Information Network - Tactical SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., 14 May 2009. Soldiers in the U.S. Army 4th Brigade - 2nd Infantry Division in Fort Lewis, Wash., and 3rd Infantry Division in Fort Stewart, Ga., have completed a Limited User Test (LUT) of the Warfighter Information Network - Tactical (WIN-T) Increment 2. As a result, WIN-T Increment 2 for the first time delivers on-the-move, Internet-like broadband networking capabilities to military units across geographically dispersed areas.
Wyle wins Boeing contract for ATLAS III ground station EL SEGUNDO, Calif., 14 May 2009. Wyle won from Boeing a contract to build the Advanced Telemetry Linked Acquisition System III (ATLAS III) ground data system to support Boeing Rotorcraft Systems' flight test programs, including the Army's CH-47 Chinook helicopter and its variants.
Goodrich sensor on-board shuttle launch to Hubble telescope CHARLOTTE, N.C., 13 May 2009. The Space Shuttle Atlantis. launched this week in its final mission to the Hubble space telescope, brought with it Goodrich Corp.'s ISR Systems team in Danbury, Conn. The company's fine guidance sensor is part of the payload designed to add years of productive life to the telescope.
DSIT ships AquaShield diver detection sonar units GIVAT SHMUEL, Israel, 13 May 2009. DSIT Solutions Ltd., a subsidiary of Acorn Energy Inc., won a large order for its AquaShield underwater port security system. The $2.3 million order is for multiple sensors, which will protect a strategic site against underwater intrusion.
Curtiss-Wright to deliver ASIST helicopter handling systems PARSIPPANY, N.J., 12 May 2009. Curtiss-Wright Corp. won a multimillion dollar contract from ASC AWD Shipbuilder Pty. Ltd., on behalf of the Air Warfare Destroyer Alliance, to supply Aircraft Ship Integrated Secure and Traverse helicopter handling systems and modular lightweight tracks for three Hobart Class ships for the Royal Australian Navy. Curtiss-Wright Flow Control will perform the work at its facility in Ontario, Canada, with initial deliveries scheduled to begin in late 2009.
CSC wins $226 million U.S. Army order for engineering, technical support services FALLS CHURCH, Va., 12 May 2009. CSC won from the U.S. Army a task order to provide systems engineering, technical, and program support for the project manager, Defense Communications and Army Transmission Systems. The task order was awarded under the Strategic Services Sourcing contract vehicle originally awarded to CSC in March 2006, and has a one-year base period and two one-year options, bringing the estimated total three-year task order value to $226 million.
