Aerospace industry urges Congress to safeguard satellite electronics technology base
WASHINGTON, 3 May 2009. The U.S. aerospace industry is urging Congress to take steps to safeguard the U.S. technology and industrial base supporting aerospace technology related to satellite electronics and other aspects of the the nation's space-based military defense systems, which officials say is under threat from a shrinking aerospace workforce, outdated export control rules, and a cumbersome defense acquisition system.

BAE Systems wins contracts for two versions of M-ATV
ARLINGTON, Va., 2 May 2009. BAE Systems won contracts to provide the military with two versions of a new armored all-terrain vehicle for use by U.S. forces in Afghanistan's rugged terrain. The company will produce three additional test vehicles of each version to undergo additional survivability and mobility testing.

Harris Corp. tests U.S. Navy MH-60R helicopter Hawklink data link
MELBOURNE, Fla., 1 May 2009. Harris Corp. has completed flight and ground testing of its Ku-band Common Data Link (CDL) Hawklink system for the U.S. Navy's MH-60R Light Airborne Multi-Purpose System helicopter. CDL Hawklink is a high-speed, digital data link that transmits tactical video, radar, acoustic, and other sensor data from the MH-60R helicopters to their host surface ships.

Harris Corp. to deliver tactical radios to Polish Ministry of National Defense
ROCHESTER, N.Y., 30 April 2009. Harris Corp., an international communications and information technology company, won a $20 million contract from the Polish Ministry of National Defense (MoND) to deliver a combination of multiband and HF tactical radios for Poland's Land and Special Operations Command Forces.

Raytheon selects Roketsan for Patriot Missile assembly
TEWKSBURY, Mass., 30 April 2009. Raytheon Company has named a Turkish missile manufacturer as an international supplier of a key component of the Patriot Guidance Enhanced Missile-Tactical (GEM-T). Roket Sanayii ve Ticaret A.S (Roketsan) of Ankara, Turkey, will supply to Raytheon the control actuation system for the Patriot GEM-T missile for the United Arab Emirates. Roketsan will work with subcontractors in Turkey and the U.S. to coordinate and perform the assembly work.

Army adopts Autodesk Kynapse middleware for America's Army 3 computer game
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., 29 April 2009. The U.S. Army has licensed Autodesk Kynapse artificial intelligence (AI) middleware from Autodesk Inc. for the America's Army 3 computer game. Kynapse will help enhance game play in the title by providing AI to various classes of non-player characters (NPCs), or characters that are not controlled by the individual playing the computer game.

Curtiss-Wright to deliver U.S. Army ground penetrating radar technology
PARSIPPANY, N.J., 29 April 2009. Curtiss-Wright Corp. won a contract from a U.S. Army agency to supply ground penetrating radar (GPR) technology for use in the detection of unexploded ordnances in overseas operations. Curtiss-Wright's Motion Control segment will provide the equipment from its Embedded Computing facility in Trondheim, Norway, over the next year.

CACI wins $900 million, multiple-award program with U.S. Strategic Command
ARLINGTON, Va., 28 April 2009. CACI International Inc. won a prime contract to support the multiple-award United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) Systems and Mission Support II (USAMS II) program. CACI won one of six prime awards. The USAMS II program has an estimated ceiling value of $900 million. The five-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity task order contract awarded to CACI has a one-year base and four one-year option periods.

2009 National Security Agency Cyber Defense Exercise employs Lockheed Martin network
ELKRIDGE, Md., 28 April 2009. Teams of cyber-security experts from the National Security Agency (NSA) and the nation's service academies took part in the Cyber Defense Exercise (CDX), considered one of the nation's most expansive and sophisticated cyber "war games." Lockheed Martin hosted the CDX command center and network hub at its Elkridge facility for the week-long event.

Northrop Grumman delivers SBIRS GEO-2 payload to Lockheed Martin
AZUSA, Calif., 27 April 2009. Northrop Grumman Corp., the payload integrator for the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS), the nation's next-generation missile warning system, delivered the second geosynchronous orbit (GEO) payload to prime contractor Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co. in Sunnyvale, Calif., for integration into the spacecraft and final system-level testing.
