Raytheon delivers engineering services for Patriot Air and Missile Defense System
TEWKSBURY, Mass., 21 April 2009. Raytheon Company won a $27 million contract to provide engineering services for the Patriot Air and Missile Defense System. This $27 million combines with $132.2 million awarded earlier this year bringing the value of the contract to $159.2 million with the potential for additional funding.

NASA delivers HD Earth imagery from Space Station on Earth Day
WASHINGTON, 21 April 2009. A special high-definition feed from NASA Television on Earth Day, April 22, will feature views of Earth captured by cameras aboard the International Space Station. The special Earth views HD feed can be seen April 22 from 6 to 9 a.m., noon to 2 p.m., and 4 to 7 p.m. EDT.

Predator C Avenger makes first flight
SAN DIEGO, 20 April 2009. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA ASI) announced the introduction of its next generation aircraft in the Predator unmanned aerial system (UAS) series, Predator C Avenger. The first flight of the new multi-mission jet-powered Avenger occurred earlier this month with the aircraft landing without any discrepancies and ready to fly again once refueled. A test program is now ongoing.

CHELMSFORD, Mass., 19 April 2009. Single board computer and VME backplane manufacturers in the embedded computer industry are putting aside their differences and are uniting behind a two-organization master plan to solve interoperability problems with the VITA-46 VPX high-speed serial bus for fast data transfer.

SAIC wins $104 million contract from Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency
SAN DIEGO, 18 April 2009. Science Applications International Corp. won a prime contract from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide training support to the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP). The single-award contract has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a total contract value of more than $104 million if all options are exercised.

Kopin ships new Viper head-mounted display to prime defense contractor
TAUNTON, Mass., 17 April 2009. Kopin Corp., a U.S. manufacturer of microdisplays for military applications, has completed the initial delivery of several hundred new VIPER head-mounted display (HMD) units to a prime U.S. defense contractor. The monocular Viper HMD, a full-color remote viewer with VGA resolution, can be connected to virtually any surveillance or thermal camera, and is designed for homeland security, military, and first-responder applications.

Hypres and ViaSat with SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific, demonstrate first all-digital multi-net Link-16 receiver
ELMSFORD, N.Y., 16 April 2009. Hypres Inc., developer of the Digital-RF product line, with support from Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific (SSC Pacific) and ViaSat, demonstrated the industry's first all-digital Link-16 multi-net receiver prototype. It is the culmination of a multiyear development by the two companies sponsored by the Office of Naval Research, Washington, D.C., and Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, PMW-150.

U.S. Navy adopts Law Enforcement Associates' under-vehicle inspection systems
RALEIGH, N.C., 15 April 2009. Law Enforcement Associates Corp. (LEA), U.S.-based developer and manufacturer of undercover surveillance equipment, gained an order from the U.S. Navy for multiple Under-Vehicle Inspection Systems (UVIS). The systems will be incorporated into the security infrastructure of a major domestic military base.

NEEDHAM, Mass., 15 April 2009. PTC, the Product Development Company, announced that Force Protection Inc., an American designer, developer, and manufacturer of ballistic and blast-protected vehicles used to support the armed forces, has adopted PTC Windchill for product development and process management.
