Raytheon moves ahead with retrofitting Navy fighter jets with AESA airborne radar
PATUXENT RIVER NAS, Md., 5 April 2009. U.S. Navy officials are awarding radar technology firm Raytheon Co. a $54.5 million contract to provide airborne radar systems for the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter jet under terms of a contract announced Thursday.

Elbit Systems of America manages F-16 Fire Control Radar life-cycle
FORT WORTH, Texas, 4 April 2009. Elbit Systems of America LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd., won a follow-on contract from the U.S. Air Force, Ogden Air Logistics Center, for depot-level repair services on the F-16 AN/APG-68 Fire Control Radar Modular Low Power Radio Frequency (MLPRF).

Raytheon wins U.S. Air Force laser-guided Maverick missile contract
TUCSON, Ariz., 3 April 2009. Raytheon Company won from the U.S. Air Force a contract to upgrade guidance and control sections for the air-to-ground Maverick missile. The contract initiates engineering efforts required to restart the laser-guided Maverick production line and will incorporate state-of-the-art laser-seeker technology, according to a company representative. Up to 450 laser Maverick guidance sections will be upgraded for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy.

CAE wins contracts for three full-flight simulators
MONTREAL, QUEBEC, 2 April 2009. Over the past month, CAE officials have signed contracts to design and manufacture three full-flight simulators (FFSs) and associated CAE Simfinity training devices valued at $33 million Canadian at list prices. The contracts are with first-time simulation equipment customers Avianca Airlines and Sofia Flight Training, as well as Emirates-CAE Flight Training (ECFT).

Fidelity wins U.S. Navy contract for helicopter training system operation, maintenance
READING, Pa., 1 April 2009. Fidelity Technologies Corp. (Fidelity) won a $35.5 million contract with the U.S. Navy to provide maintenance and operational support for six helicopter flight training locations across the country. The five-year contract for Helicopter Contractor Operation and Maintenance Services (HELO COMS) was entered into with the Naval Air Warfare Center – Training Systems Division (NAWC-TSD).

MicroStrain to develop mini vibro-mechanical energy harvesters for U.S. Navy
WILLISTON, Vermont, 1 April 2009. MicroStrain Inc. won from the U.S. Navy (NAVAIR) a Phase II SBIR contract to develop a suite of miniature vibro-mechanical energy harvesters for powering wireless sensors on Navy aircraft. Developments in combining sensors, microprocessors, and radio frequency (RF) communications holds the potential to revolutionize the way we monitor and maintain critical systems, says a company representative.

Lockheed Martin prepares Australia's first Aegis weapon system for testing
MOORESTOWN, N.J., 31 March 2009. Four antennas destined for Australia's first Air Warfare Destroyer were installed in Lockheed Martin's Aegis Production Test Center, marking the full system's transition from production to testing, reveals a company representative. Testing on the first Air Warfare Destroyer Aegis shipset will begin in early May and end in November.

Delta's Gorman says strong MRO business may offset tough economy
MINNEAPOLIS, 30 March 2009 Steve Gorman, executive vice president and chief operating officer, for Delta Airlines says his company's maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) business from avionics components to engines is growing each year and should offset some of the losses due to the tough economy.

Boeing delivers training enhancements to F-15E Mission Training Centers
ST. LOUIS, 30 March 2009. Boeing delivered its F-15E Suite 5 upgrade to the U.S. Air Force's F-15E Mission Training Centers (MTC) at Mountain Home Air Force Base (AFB), Idaho; Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C.; and Royal AFB Lakenheath in the United Kingdom. This system upgrade ensures that the F-15E MTCs have aircrew training devices concurrent with the latest aircraft configuration – including recent changes to the F-15E cockpit and its ability to carry the Small Diameter Bomb.

Army, ARINC to supply Russian-made helicopters and avionics to Iraq military
WASHINGTON, 29 March 2009. The Pentagon late Friday awarded an $80.6 million contract to ARINC Inc. of Annapolis, Md., to supervise the sale of 22 Russian-made MI-17CT military helicopters and helicopter avionics to the Iraqi armed forces.
