U.S. Air Force accepts delivery of Raytheon Miniature Air Launched Decoy
TUCSON, Ariz., 18 March 2009. The U.S. Air Force accepted delivery of the first Miniature Air Launched Decoy low-rate initial production unit from Raytheon Company. MALD protects aircrews and aircraft by duplicating the combat flight profiles and signatures of U.S. and allied aircraft. MALD is a low-cost flight vehicle that is modular, air-launched, and programmable, weighing less than 300 pounds and with a range of roughly 500 nautical miles (575 statute miles).

Enerdyne delivers encrypted digital data link upgrade for ROVER receivers
EL CAJON, Calif., 17 March 2009. Enerdyne Technologies Inc., a ViaSat company, has demonstrated its DVA (Digital Video over Analog links) technology interoperating with a ROVER video receiver. The DVA allows conversion of the video link between an aircraft or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) transmitter and a ROVER receiver to a digital link encrypted with AES-256.

United Kingdom engineers struggle to upgrade old aircraft with new avionics technology

PMR provides communications for public safety in Australia
VISTA, Calif., 13 March 2009. PMR in Vista, Calif., won a substantial order for its next-generation wireless digital video equipment from an undisclosed public safety agency in Australia. The digital system, valued at more than $1 million, will provide secure communications via airborne and ground assets for a multi-point microwave network. The system will be used by agency staff for crisis management, mobile command, crowd control, and other tactical activities.

TSA selects Smiths Detection handheld explosive detection systems
PINE BROOK, N.J., 13 March 2009. Smiths Detection won a $2 million order from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for SABRE 4000 handheld trace explosives detectors. The lightweight systems can detect trace amounts of substances from either particle or vapor samples.

General Dynamics wins $33 million to enhance Iraqi Abrams tank and vetronics
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., 12 Mar. 2009. General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, won a contract worth $33 million to purchase long-lead materials for the production of 140 M1A1 SA (Situational Awareness) tanks and vetronics systems for the Iraq program.
