Raytheon to supply solid-state source for non-lethal weapons TEWKSBURY, Mass., 12 Mar. 2009. Raytheon Company's Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) business won a phase-two contract to develop a gallium nitride (GaN) solid-state source for use in non-lethal weapons. The Defense Department's Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate (JNLWD) awarded the contract. Raytheon's GaN technology is well suited to a wide range of DoD systems, including radar, electronic warfare, and communications.
Raytheon wins $128 million for Patriot engineering services TEWKSBURY, Mass., 11 Mar. 2009. Raytheon Company won a $128.1 million U.S. Army contract for engineering services for the Patriot Air and Missile Defense System. Issued by the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, the contract calls for Raytheon engineers to provide systems analysis, software and hardware engineering, testing, and logistics support.

It is a part of a consortium lead by SciSys, a leading supplier of solutions to the space sector, and EADS Astrium, a company gathering the space activities of the EADS Group.
ITT wins $317 million order for counter improvised explosive devices CLIFTON, N.J., 11 Mar. 2009. ITT Corp. won a $317 million order to produce an additional 4,501 CREW 2.1 Vehicle Receiver Jammers (CVRJ), vehicle-mounted systems for the United States Marine Corps. The system is designed to prevent the detonation of improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command, announced recently by the U.S. Department of Defense, awarded the contract.
Lockheed Martin GPS satellite III team in preliminary design review stage NEWTOWN, Pa., 10 Mar. 2009. The Lockheed Martin team developing the next-generation Global Positioning System (GPS) spacecraft, GPS III, is achieving milestones in the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) phase with the U.S. Air Force. Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Newtown, Pa., along with industry partners ITT, Clifton, N.J., and General Dynamics of Gilbert, Ariz., have completed 19 out of 71 PDRs for key GPS III spacecraft subsystems and assemblies.

Herley Industries Inc.'s Herley CTI subsidiary in Whippany, N.J., won an award valued at roughly $2.3 million from a major U.S. defense contractor to manufacture complex Integrated Microwave Assemblies (IMA) for an electronic attack aircraft for the U.S. Navy.
SAIC wins $900 million U.S. Strategic Command contract SAN DIEGO, 6 Mar. 2009. Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) won a contract from the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) to provide technical assistance and selected support services. This multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options and a ceiling value of $900 million for all awardees.
