Overview:
Developers of modern embedded military multi-computing systems face pressure on multiple fronts. The need for more capabilities drives the requirement for more processing and greater communications bandwidths.
This is combined with the ever-present need to reduce size, weight, and power, and increasingly demanding time to deployment pressures. As a result, developers and system integrators must seek out new and innovative approaches to solving their embedded computing problems. One approach that has been growing in popularity is to use FPGA technology along with more traditional DSP or general purpose processors in a heterogeneous system. However, even this architecture has limitations which need to be addressed in high bandwidth systems. Curtiss-Wright Controls and Xilinx will discuss new architectures to break down the bottlenecks in heterogeneous systems using application examples.
